Vehicle Tracking - Anti -theft devices to qualify for inurance?

Has anybody installed, or been asked to install a vehicle tracking device to qualify for insurance of their cars? I just spoke to Allianz (who we are insured with for everything else) and they said a warning had come up on thier quote screen for 335 Coupes requiring the fitment of such device prior to getting insurance.

Does the car come standard with anything capable of tracking through the GPS?

We live in a low risk area of Perth so......what the?

Simpler and cheaper to change insurance company. Add this to my recient experiance with Allianz and they are really starting to become a joke.

Change insurance companies, and kindly inform them you will be taking all your business elsewhere. I've never heard anything like that. Especially for something as common as a 335 BMW

Try calling BMW insurance & see what they say.
It seems illogical to me, seeing as BMW insurance is underwritten by Allianz, so they should be pretty good with bimmers. I think you may've just got a stupid person on the phone.

Give Allianz a miss - too fussy anyway and you will find cheaper/better policies elsewhere.

Weird.

I am with BMW Insurance, aka Allianz.

Basic excess is $2,000. If the car is stolen there is an additional $2,000 excess unless a tracking device is fitted.

$750 excess on mine with GIO

I always thought Allianz were a pretty bad company when they were running TV adds explaining what insurance excess is.

Car delivered tommorrow but I am in a crap mood.......we have just been burgled for the fourth time in 20 months. Monitored alarm, deadbolts, you name it we have it but we still lost the plasma......again. What a way to spoil what was to be a great week!

Looks like I will go with AAMI. Thanks for advice!

Doesn't sound like much of a low risk area if you've been burgled 4 times in 20months! Maybe Allianz got burned with a few higher end cars in that area, hence the stricter insurance requirements.
