I bought a Parrot CK3000 on ebay. The steering wheel adapter can be purchased from www.parrotkits.com/steeringwheel.html. You can buy the Parrot from them too, but it's much cheaper on ebay.

Also, when you install the steering wheel adapter, you do not have to install the Parrot control pad. It's a little triccky, but all Parrot functions can be accessed from the steering wheel controls.

Good luck

All of the installs look like they were done very well. I love how clean the job looks, almost like it was done from the factory. Great job and great write up.

I would recommend initially to install Parrot control pad to pair the device and transfer the address book. Without address book loaded the steering wheel controls may be not operational.

Note: In this tread were added number of different adapters. Please note that original DIY was written for Connects2 adapters!

I using it for over 3 years - no problems.

FYI-in case someone ever needs a little help

i just ordered this last night because it has an aux plug on the side of the BT device

http://www.accessoryjack.com/-strse-...oth/Detail.bok

it matches my interior color scheme as well... i plan on running an aux headphone jack from my center console all the way to my visor. at the same time i plan on tapping the cigarette lighter power source and installing this

http://www.accessoryjack.com/-strse-...pin/Detail.bok

since the device runs off mini usb for power this will keep me from having to ever unplug the bluetooth device to recharge it. it also will be easy to install as it is already a 12v power supply.....another good thing about this brand is you could go with one of these

http://www.accessoryjack.com/-strse-...801/Detail.bok

if you want to pair your phone and another BT source likean mp3 player at the same time. just make sure your phone is A2DP and/or AVCRP compatible...good luck

I installed parrot ck3000 with the multican steering wheel controller on my E90 and it seems to work fine but recognizes only the hangup button. The bigger problem is that the auxilary input does not seem to work any more. It's on a permanent mute. Anybody has any ideas what could cause the auxillary input to not work after installing the parrot kit. I used a harness from safewireless.com

Woo!

A big thanks to bmviz for the DIY guide... I just finished installing my CK3000 and everything seems to be working beautifully. The only issue I had was stuffing all of the wires and components beneath the steering wheel... a little tight but eventually managed!

You welcome, and thanks for a positive feedback. I'm using my setup since 4 years ago, and I can't live without it anymore :-)

bmw function buttons

bmviz or anyone else with connects2, can you go over how the steering wheel buttons map to the ck3000 with the connects2. Do the left and right side buttons work?

Thanks for your time.

hi bmviz. I recently purchased a MKi9000 and the cable that came along with it didnt fit my 2007 E90 non i-drive (well of course it didnt haha). Is CTSBM005 the cable I would need to get from connects2? or do i need to get this adapter from parrot first (http://dbinstall.parrot.com/pdf.php?...KI9000&lang=UK) to be able to connect it to my E90 CAN BUS before I can purchase my connect2 cable?

Thank you for your time!

Where do you actually physically place the connects2 box and parrot box?

Thanks

clicking noise

Did the install and it works great- but I noticed that there is a clicking/popping noise coming from the stereo anytime the car is on. It is there both when the stereo is on or off but not there while I am on a call. Is this just interference with the Connects 2 amplifier? Is there a way I can get rid of this popping?

Anyone have any experience with this and the iphone 4s? I currently use the aux for phone calls, but there is too much echo. Looking at getting the Parrot.

Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger
