Sneak Peak at injector coding via INPA

After a lot of reading and learning, downloading and experimenting, I finally got INPA to work with my ECU (many thanks go to nivedhm). This is a sneak peak at the injector screen. At this point, I believe I am capable of coding my own injectors.

Few notes:

The two 3-digit numbers actually have a decimal point separator. So if your injector has the following stamping on it:

582
227

It actually means 58.2 and 2.27.

In this screen you can see how these are entered in the ECU for injector 1:

My next step is to verify that my currently installed injectors are actually coded in correctly! After that, I'll be replacing injector 1 in an attempt to rectify the misfiring issues I've been seeing.

EDIT:

I did some more digging. The second number represents the actual flow rate of the injectors. It measures in milligrams per pulse. So for an example, my number 1 injector will dump 2.44 milligrams of fuel per pulse.

It is now clear to me (at least) that in order to do proper tuning of big turbo and upgraded turbo's one would need to know the actual flow rate of the injectors. I think that the flash tuners will have an edge when it comes to big turbo tuning once they figure out how to read the flow rates of the injectors and more importantly, change the frequency of the injector pulses!

The cable that they also use in the programming forum... A German company seems to sell it...
I believe that you have to check that you buy the correct cable... do not buy chines ones as they might give some issues...

I will build a complete DIY for you guys. Unfortunately the forum rules do not allow me to post the actual software directly here.

Unfortunately, the weather in Chicago is rather cold. If we get couple of warm days I'll work on the car and replace the injector, but from the looks of it, I might have to wait till spring time to do this.

As a side note: I have a brand new injector sitting in my living room, waiting to be installed. It's numbers match EXACTLY my number 6 injector. So it seems that those injectors sometimes will have the same flow specs.

This winter has been relatively warm as is. You made this thread, so you need to get this rolling and see if it works. Take only couple of minutes to change out the injector. Don't need to change them all out to confirm if it works. One will do. These teasers are a bit old.

Haha! I know. I did not mean to tease anyone. Honestly, I'll try to do it soon, but in subzero temps, my fingers just refuse to work. I loose all feeling and I can't even fold them.

Nice work. I just went through this a few days ago. I replaced and coded (using INPA) my cyl 5 injector fixed all my issues with misfiring in that cylinder.

Nice going

Hopefully this will help solve a lot of those annoying misfire problems that are plaguing us.

A DIY will save everyone a lot of time and headache!

Nice work and +1 on the DIY.

Btw, please make it simple enough for those of us with no programming experience.

Its the ecu that takes care of that thats why the coding per injector.
