Brake caliper rebuild: Guide pin bushing question

As part of my winter rear suspension rebuild project I decided to rebuild the brakes. I ordered new ATS front and rear guide pin bushings for my sport brakes:

Front PT#: 34216869617
Rear PT#: 34111157038

The strange thing with the front bushings are they came with an extra bushing (white sections, see pic). The 3rd extra bushing is clearly a different design as it has a plastic insert which makes it stiffer than the two 100% rubber bushings. You can feel the difference in your hands. My question is this an optional stiffer bushing to help improve brake feel? Should I use this ONE bushing and if so which location should it go (ie. upper or lower mount?). Quickly trying to install it last night proved to be much harder so I figured I would ask you guys before I go through the hassle of the install. There were no instructions provided with the bushings.

See link to reference picture of bushings:

Aside: If anyone wants to clean up the guide pins steel wool and a drill with the appropriate allen key driver works wonders!

Thanks for the steel wool and drill idea. I'm doing my front brakes today and will give it a try.

Weird, none of my brake pin bushings has the white insert when I pulled them out to replace them with solid brass one few months ago. I would just slide in the standard rubber ones if the white ones are impossible to install.

Tossed the question to ECS to figure out, they couldn't answer it and said they would get back to me and never did. I decided to play it safe and used the standard fully rubber bushings.

I ordered brake fluid tank ruber gumets and they send me screw. Mistakes happen and not everyone at ECS is an expert. By the way, smart decision on playing safe with your brakes. Always the best decision!
