I Pod Dealer install charge?

Thanks to member feedback I decided to order the I Pod interface from Circle BMW. Smooth process and I received the interface in 2 days. I strongly recommend them.
I called and set up an appointment for my install at the local dealer. They said it could take up to 6 hours. I believe someone posted the comment that the dealers are only charging the customer 2 hours labor for the install. Is this correct? Would someone please confirm this? I searched and was unable to find the thread with this information and now it very important to me $$$$ could be the difference in paying 2 hours or 6 hours! Thanks in advance for your help.

It's entirely up to the dealer how much they charge. They are entitled to charge for the entire time required for the installation (but not for time relating to updating Progman). Each dealer has its own policy. They also might have given you a mroe favorable quote for the part and installation had you purchased it from them.

Did you ask them about the pricing before ordering the part elsewhere? It sounds like whatever savings you might get on the part will evaporate in the labor.

I just took delivery of my 335 this week and had the dealer install my interface cable. It cost me just over $100 CDN or 1 hour labour.

Hope this helps.

I paid $259 + shipping.

http://www.circlebmw.com/parts/acc/65110403650.htm

I did get a quote from the local dealer of $595.
I plan to ask the dealer just want additional information in my back pocket in case the billable time was more than 2 plus hours.

And BMW of North America will reply ,,our dealers are independent companies and we have no control over their pricing practices``.

Again, the dealer can charge whatever they want.

The link provided above is for a E90 (1.5 hours estimated install time). Anyone have a copy of the Original BMW Installation Instructions for the E92?
