i believe BMW stopped prewiring alarms for 2010-2011 models. i may be wrong but i think thats what i heard.
i believe up to 2009 all e90's,e92,e93's were prewired for alarms. but ask evan@tischer he should know

From what I have read, 2010 and 11 models are no longer pre-wired for the alarm. Adding it would be super expensive. I am brand new to this forum and that is really all I know, but you can search for specifics.

i have an 08 e92 mine came prewired (clown nose on bottom of the rear view mirror) and i called a bunch of dealers and actually got the one closest to my house to match the lowest price i found which was $600 parts/labor & tax. The car has sensors on the wheels i think, hood, trunk, and when the windows are down and motion is detected the alarm goes off. I take it you should have ordered it with the factory alarm or explored the option before purchasing but too late now.

The alarm is standard on the 335is which is why I have it. I'm not really sure it provides $600 worth of value to be honest.

The alarm kit was $290 from Tischer a couple of years ago, plus my dealer charged 1 hour for programming the alarm. It was a fun project, but I don't think it's worth the $, or at least I'd need to keep the car for a looooooong time to pay for the alarm with the insurance discounts.
My insurance company was insistent that the car have an alarm warning sticker for the alarm discount. That's a good part of the deterrence value of the alarm system. Another good part of the deterrence value is the blinking clown nose. There are instructions in the DIY forum for making the clown nose blink with a few dollars of Radio Shack parts. If you want to discourage the casual thief, an alarm sticker from Ebay and the flashing clown nose might be the cheap way to do it. The car is almost impossible to steal without either the key or a flatbed.

Why not just go with an aftermarket alarm?

Is almost impossible to interface with any aftermarket alarm. Just like the sound system.

I've read about CAN Bus Alarms that allows you to use the factory remote. You can google or search in this forum.

It always amazes me around here how little some people know about their own cars. OP, I'd go with a good aftermarket one if I were you, and really felt the need for one.

OP, Your 2011 is not prewired. your totally on your own here. get a simple CANbus alarm that will be a very basic alarm just like the BMW factory one. they arent expensive and you will still use your factory keyfob. If you want the clown nose to blink than add a CanBus alarm + a RemoteKey Plus unit together. they work great together. here is my story... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=457584
