I do mine every 3-5k but my oil is free so don't matter how much I do it.
Main reason I change early is due to my remap, don't fancy too much fuel in my oil!

So basically any good quality fully synth at the correct grades.

Just increase the frequency of change.

So now what grades? 0w30? or 5w40?

Isnt a 0w30 abit thin?

thin oil is long life spec (so after 30k miles when normal oil would have congealed into a blob, the thin dishwater is starting to thicken up) i wouldn't be using 0w30

Don't forget it's not just the viscosity, if you have a DPF the oil needs to be a low ash or the DPF will die.

regarding the ash, from official tech specs i found that mobil 1 0w-30 & 5w-30 have 0.6 wt% , castrol edge 0w-30 & 5w-30 about 0.64-0.7 while castrol magnatec 5w-30 has 1.1 wt%
not sure what wt% is but you can see a comparison in values (from these, only magnatec seems to present a higher amount of ash)

wt% = mass fraction percentage by weight, or the amount that ends up as ash when heated to the test temperature for whatever the test duration may be.

Seems like Mobil 1 out performs C Edge in terms of ash production, or lack thereof.
