inthemiddle is selling an Eibach / FSD combo that he is willing to split up. Although with H&Rs, Koni yellows are a better match as Fraggy found out. I'm preferential to the Koni yellows and Bilsteins myself.

Koni yellow shocks are good for all springs, and you can adjust the stiffness of the shock.... im running H&R Race springs with Koni yellow Shocks set to the stiffest setting and its AMAZING... car handles like a dream.... doesnt bounce |

I am amazed at the apparent emphasis some modders put on the getting the "looks" of a lowered car. This is total rice, looks over performance, messing up your car, anti- freude am fahren.

Glad someone agrees. But if somebody wants to slam the living crap out of their car for that super-tucked-look-yo, then go for it... it's their car. Coilovers slammed to the ground and 2"+ lowering springs are purely for aesthetics and make the car handle like crap unless extensive work has been done to re-arrange the geometry of the car. I highly doubt anybody has done anything like drop spindles on the E9x though.

Alright so anyone on these forums selling Koni Yellows or Koni FSDs? I need a temporary solution before my OEM shocks wear out and until I can afford KW V2 coilovers.
?? thanks.

Koni FSD will not work with H&R springs. Or rather, it's not recommended. FSD are only compatible with Eibach springs. BTW, PM replied |

They will make the ride even stiffer -- basically they will make the car corner flatter. Get some koni yellows or Bilsteins and be done with it.

NO. Sway bars would make your car stiffer over uneven road bumps. Race springs make the bounce worse, since bouncing is a function of stiffness and spring rate. Race springs are stiffer.
You need better dampers (e.g., Koni) that will reduce compression and rebound of your car's body. This is the function of the shock absorber. However, there is always a sacrifice--a compromise between comfort and handling. The stiffer your car becomes, the more bumpy it will be. The H&R sport springs set up I had with the ZSP dampers was ideal for handling, but a little too bumpy over choppy roads and speed bumps at low speeds. The coilovers are smoother, and handle well, but I still think the H&R springs set up made for a better handling car (just not as comfortable). |

The front drop is considerable despite what the specs say, as in 2-3 inches. I will take a photo of the sport spring next to the stock spring tomorrow when I take my sports off to put on my coilovers if no one believes that. They are WAY shorter in front. The car does have a "nose up" appearance stock so this is not a bad thing. I'm pretty sure thats a result of euro pedestrian crash laws (wouldnt you rather go over than under though?). The rears are slightly shorter, maybe an inch.

Thanks so much for all the feedback everyone! I am purchasing Koni Yellows ASAP.
What level of stiffness do you guys recommend? This car is my daily commuter and I don't track the car.

Yes F&R.
OKG, Readjust headlights with a screw driver. It's pretty apparent once you open your hood, on top of each headlight.
