E90 xdrive 2011 Front strut replacement feedback

Hi guys,

I've a feeling that my stront strut aren't damping as they should. I can't really see it with the bounce test. I noticed that the shocks aren't producing a compressed gas whistling anymore when I hit bumps.
I live in the rust belt (Quebec, Canada) and my car has 187k KM/ 177k miles.

My car is still clean, but I wonder if I will really enjoy the investment money if I replace them. I'm planing on keeping it for approx. 2 more years. Any experience from you guys?

I was thinking about going for a full strut monkey assembly since my local BMW indy told me xDrive spring are likely to fail. Rears were done with Bilstein B4.

b4 will be a lot better damper than some generic brand, unless you have uneven ride height i would go b4. yeah should have done front when rear or long time ago to get full value, up to you. imo chassis dynamics is a core reason to have a bmw and pay the tax

Our stock BMW dampers - and most shocks - really only last 70-80k miles before they degrade noticeably. They may not be leaking, but they fail to compress and rebound like new ones. Some last longer, some shorter. If you have a 10year old car with over 100k miles, you are definitely overdue for refresh and will notice a big difference. We tend to ignore the suspension because it goes bad slowly and we get used to it!

I agree. My 2011 E90 xDrive right front strut spring broke at 75k miles. Upon disassembly of the strut, I was surprised how weak the original strut shock was, no leaks, just weak!
Before the spring broke, I really paid no mind to ride quality, the ride felt ok, and no shocks were leaking!
