Good day everyone.

I'm a newbie here and I bought K+DCAN cable.

After following step by step DIY by Junior, i encountered few problem as below.

1. I don't see "use fifo uffers in advanced port setting. Here are the pictures..






2. INPA load successfully. When I tried to access Seat modules --> Airbag .. I get this 3 errors..








Please help all the GURUs... Much appreciate it..

Ddi you buy the recommended cable, and did you download/install the FTDI Drivers for the cable?

Your model year car requires you to use an adapter to make pin 7 and 8 bridged. If you don't have adapter, open up the OBD connection side and solder pin 7 and 8 together. It should work after that

Where do you guys keep getting this information!? No E90 or E60 requires pins 7 and 8 soldered together... period! It's only required for E46 and older for the 3 series and E39 and older for the 5 series.

And if you don't believe me, try BMW's own documentation attached to this thread, page 7.

His car is an e90 made in 2006 so yes I agree it needs pin 7 and 8 bridged. Anything after. 3/07 require pin 7 and 8 separate.

My E90 was built in 9/2005 and I've tried both bridged and unbridged and it makes no difference.

Without the adapter it will not connect to my early 07 or 06's.
No problem after attaching my adapter.

Incorrect. I have a E90 made in 04/2005 (2006 Year Model). No 7-8 adapter required.

On the listing I posted (which is from BMW by the way), Yes means 7-8 bridged and No means 7-8 unbridged.

8 pin is not used on the early E90's, it used to be a secondary K-CAN line but E60 and E90's went to a single K-CAN line bus.

weird, I coded a 2006 and without it bridged it would not connect....It stated data transmission disturbed...Once I bridged it, it instantly connected...I think your generalizing it too much as my experience says otherwise.

Definitely could be a cable issue then, I use a J2534-1 interface for coding instead of a K+DCAN cable for quick jobs and an ICOM for more advanced stuff. Never had to bridge 7-8 on any year E90/E60 (I've worked with 2005 builds all the way up 2012). Same with Mini's prior to the R55/R56 chassis, only needed an adapter for the eariler R50/R52 chassis.

I only needed an adapter for the E46/E39/E53 chassis.

So that's been my experience.

Most adapters are supposed to be bridging pins 7-8, because on most interfaces (like J2534-1 interfaces used by BMW, and the official Omitec interface) all pins are separate.

But with all these K+DCAN cables floating around from different suppliers and vendors, who knows.

I use an OpenPort 2.0 interface (J2534-1 compatible interface) for quick coding jobs (using the BMW PTT drivers aka "STD:PASSTHRUD") and my ICOM for everything else.

J2534-1 interfaces are also compatible with BMW OSS (the web based for pay version of ISTA/D and ISTA/P). Although BMW has locked their newest PTT drivers to accept only their certified devices (the Actia Passthru XS and DrewTech CarDAQ) as well as working with BMW Standard Tools and a whole host of other OEM applications.

I dunno my is bridged when i made the connection to the E92 2006 and E92 1/07 build Both of them I tested it with it not bridged and it didnt work. I know for sure of my setup.

FWIW

My cable has pins 7 & 8 soldered together and it works on my 04/2008 E82

Im going to desolder it and test it, also wire in a switch like this guy did.....
