The Quality of Rap/Hip Hop Music is Degrading Rapidly

Is it just me or is the quality of Rap/Hip Hop music becoming horrendeous? I started out listening to punk rock like Misfits, DRI, etc. when i was a kid but now my music tastes are pretty open and even listen to rap. But the current state of hip hop is horrid. If you hate any rap/hip hop then ok its all horrid to you but i do like some of the Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Beastie Boys, etc. stuff but the current generation of this music is not listenable... maybe im getting old but this is an example from a well-known artist:

If you like Usher, then that's why you don't like current rap.

He is good for one reason, club songs. Underground wayne(mixtapes), Carter 1 and 2 is good, but his radio music is meh.

Luda has some really good shit too, but you have to actually get into underground rap, not what you hear on the radio

The problem is that 'southern rap' has overtaken the airwaves. Mainly because most of it is party music.

Good Rap/Hip-Hop is still around...you just won't see/hear it on the mainstream that much these days.

Theres still a ton of good rap coming out. About 20 new songs come out daily.

Mainstream on the other hand isnt as good as it once was but that goes for any music. If
you look for it youll find it. I make mp3 cds with about 80 songs every week.

All the mainstream and radio Hip Hop and rap is gay in this day and age. There are still lots of artists that are underground or not very well known that are good:

Wiz Khalifa

Ray Cash

Also Bun B is still here and he is one of my favorite rappers. Southern Rap is the best right now, anyone from Texas wrecks it. Lil Keke, Big Moe (RIP), Paul Wall, Bun B, Pimp C (RIP), Trae, Z-RO. We still have lots of good rappers out there, they just aren't mainstreamed.

Good rap is there to be found. All of the videos posted are by really top-quality MCs.

As a Kansas City, Missouri native, you should really explore Tech N9ne.

I like Gucci Mane (More now than before), I also like a lot of dirty south type stuff too, Wiz Kalefa is great, and try Andre Nickatina, the Bay Area's finest!

Edit: Listen to this. Hip-Hop is not dead my brothas!

Love this song off the new album. He kills the last verse.

Rap will never be how it used to be back in the NWA, 'Pac, Biggie, Dre, Snoop, Death Row, Nas, Tribe, Eminem, Bone Thugs, Wu-Tang, Beastie Boys days...

That's just the past and the great thing is that you can listen to it over and over and over again.

A lot of rap these days is just pure trash, still rapping about bottles, chains and Bentleys and the utter stupidity that comes out of these pure trashbags' mouths.

New Eminem is good, Jay Z has kept it good for the most part (although nothing will ever touch Reasonable Doubt), it has a lot to do with the state of our society - people enjoy listening to bad music, watching bad movies, and eating bad food.

It's all down hill from now on folks...
