Talking new owner next week of x1 xdive

Hi guys,
I collect my 2011 X1 xdrive 1.8tdi m sport next week. I wasn't looking for a new car but just noticed mine sitting on a forecourt at good money and hey ho here I am now. My current car is a Mitsubishi ASX 1.8 mivtec diesel 4wd. I found the ASX very good in the snow and was wondering what you guys here thought of yours ?
I have also notice that a few of you have experienced feeling some vibration through your steering wheel whilst stationary with your engine ticking over, is this something I should be concened about ? I was also wondering if there is any other common issues I should be watching out for prior to me accepting my X1 ?
I am a member of the ASX owners forum and found this to be very helpful and would be grateful for any feedback guys.

Please let me know the good points of your X1 experience too as I'm quite excited about collecting my X1. I've had many cars over the years from various manufacturers but this will be the first I've opted for BMW

ps. Love the emoticons particularly the "RTFM" one .

This is E90 post for 3 series drivers.

I hope your knew car turns out to be a gem, but this is the wrong forum for tech talk.

There has only been one member on here who has had an X1 (gizze) but recently sold it. I'm sure he'd be happy to share his experiences with you.

Try not to be offended but you may find the X1 isn't overly loved in a lot of general forums, a specific X1 or 1 Series forum may have a better opinion.

The X1 is basically a jacked up 3 series touring.

Rides better, handles 95% as good, and has slightly better room.

The 18d is fine in standrd guise and quite impressive with a tuning box.

The SE has the most horrid steering wheel but you can probably buy an M-Sport wheel off ebay for under £100 that makes all the difference.

Problem for me was the gearbox, mine ws manual and BMW have serious issues with all manual 'boxes since 2006.
Very heavy clutch that also judders when pulling away.
They have a revised clutch and flywheel out so if buying from a main dealer you should be fine for this fitted. If not I suggest you try the car properly before parting with your money.
Many think "It's a new car, feels heavy just need to get used to it." but that is not the case, if it feels awkward I would walk away, it annoys more and more the longer you have it.
