US to EU ...

Hi guys

I am thinking to take my 2007 328i coupe to Europe.
I was wondering what modifications do I have to have done on the car and the
main thing will my Idrive work there if I but the European map.! ?
Due to different regions it may not read the disc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated .
Thanks

I thought that regions were only for video DVDs, not for data. Your traffic data may not work. Your BMW Assist will probably not work because the built in phone electronics are different in Europe.

I can do the full coding of your car to the Euro spec. It can also be done remotely.
Send me a PM if you are interested.

That won't fix the hardware difference in the cell phone module.

The TCU will work just fine in Europe. Are you referring to any specific feature?

The OP said that he has a USA spec. 2007 328i. His CDMA TCU for the USA market will probably not work very well with the European GSM phone system.

The Bluetooth will work fine. The emergency calls can work through any GSM phone connected the TCU with the Bluetooth.

You taking a lefthanddrive car with you to the UK? Or are you primarely going to drive in other countries? Won;t the shipping be more expensive then just getting a new one in the UK?

Yes left hand drive car mainly in the UK ,,, I know it sounds weird, but lot of people do it.
Shipping is not expensive about $1200 + about 220pound in the UK side for customs...
Changing residence from one country to an other you don't have to pay VAT or Duty on the car
so that's why i figured it's worth it

LHD isn't a big problem in the UK - except drive-thru windows.

I drove a LHD Jag XJS V12HE there for a few years. It confused the natives.
