VENT! 335i pricing is crazy!

Dang. I've built and re-built my 335i sedan a 100 times. Got it down to exactly what I want, but the nickel and dime pricing for everything gets out of hand.

I'll admit - the 335i is better than a G37 or TL, but it's $10 freaking thousand dollars more!

My lease cost (high miles) is $890+ per month on a 335i.

Equally optioned G37S would be $670/month lease.

Is the 335i 32% better than the G37???? Kinda hard to justify that price difference.

what options did you get? Mine is $608 a month. And that was with nothing out of pocket. Except first month and DMV

There are expensive. I thought about a G37 before I got mine. Had a G35 and was happy with it. Once I sat in the 335 though, wasn't even a question. My payments are high as well. Not sure how people get their cars for $600 a month, damn!

Honestly, I can not believe the price of a new 335i, it is outrageous! Especially for the car you get, it has multiple problems that aren't resolved yet. I love the BMW product, but I would never buy new. Worked around cars all my life and I can tell you first hand, cars are the worst investment you will ever make in your life, unless of course you stumble upon a killer deal on an old car and make money on it. But new, forget it!
Like the above post reads, "you have to pay to play", sometimes I just wonder if it is all worth it.

you shouldn't be leasing if you are guaranteed to be driving 20k miles a year, its not worth it for you. BMW leases are actually one of the cheapest leases for luxury vehicles, thats why as of last year at least 75% of bimmers were leased. are you getting lease numbers from a dealer or are you calculating on your own? You shouldn't go off MSRP either because you can get the car for at least 500 over invoice these days and bmw is giving you a 1k cash towards any leases delivered by june 30th.

regarding you compairing the car to a g37s, i personally test drove both vehicles, on the same day. i first took out the bimmer and had a hell of a time, took a 25min test drive and was blown away by the low end torque and just the handling. it was an exhiliarating drive, just something i didn't really experience right away in a car before (i'd been driving a maxima before hand). i then went over and test drove the g37s and it felt like a sunday driver. the car has everything you need, but its tight and uncomfortable, whereas the bimmer had more space, esp in the back. i'm 6-1 and i fit fine in the back of the bimmer vs. having to sit low in the inifiniti just to fit. performance wise, the g37s has a great engine, but it doesn't have the pep of the bimmer.

with the g37s, you are getting a lot of creature comforts, but with the bimmer you are getting performance. personally i chose the performance.

It's through my company and the lease is a write-off vs. purchase which is a long depreciation and not nearly as advantageous.

Infinity G37 money factor: 0.00127
BMW 335i sedan money factor: 0.00225

From the dealer and confirming from my own research. If you go $500 over MSRP and then add in the Doc fees, MACO, Training Fee, etc. you are back up to $1500+ over Edmunds' reported invoice amount.

The $1k cash towards lease is great. Assuming you buy car off the lot. If you have to order one (because all the dealers only carry auto/XDrives and you don't want that), you are probably not going to get that if it expires before delivery.

I wholeheartedly agree - the G37s didn't do a lot for me. Great car, but I prefer the Bimmer. Do I prefer paying 30%+ more for the BMW???? That's the big question.

For the record, I'm a BMW fanatic. Have owned 6 in the past 8 years and currently own 3. All I'm saying is they are making it more and more out of reach charging for all the options that come standard on competing cars. 15% more for the BMW? Sure. No problem. 30% more? Now they are pushing the limits of even us fanatics.

Pay to play? Yep. No problem with that. But HOW MUCH are you willing to pay to play? Where does it stop? What if the 335i was $60k? Would you pay that? $70k????

That is anal rape if you're paying over 1000 in MACO and additional fees! Negotiate it without the MACO fee. If they say things like we can't take that off legal, ask them to take it from the price of the vehicle. When I got mine, I pushed pretty hard but I didn't bother with the MACO, which was around 500 or something. Not worth my time, I was just happy to buy the car.

Even if you use a dealer selling at "invoice" (on this site), they are adding acquisition fees, doc fees, MACO, and training.

Anyone with a recent experience with a killer lease deal willing to share your exact costs?

Your first mistake is leasing this car... Don't lease it, they are running nice inventives with low APR financing.

Do it

Unless my accounting research is wrong, the lease is a complete write-off through my company. Purchase has to be depreciated at a less-than-ideal rate. Ends up being less expensive to lease given the tax consequences.

If the MF drops in July, I'm in. Otherwise, I'm out.

Of course, I can always cheapen my build to leatherette, non-MSport, no Nav, no bluetooth. I guess I'm back to "gotta pay (through the nose) to play"

THat is odd, i did a 3k down and a $83x a month, that is owning it not leasing, with a .09 financing for 60 months. I heard you can get .09 finance with bmw paying 2 months for your car now. I had the same options a above w/o the NAV.

Here is my advice... Forget a lease with 20K miles a year.
Instead go for the much cheaper 15K miles and put down 8 security deposits.
Most dealers will tell you it's not worth it, but they are dead wrong... The ROI on the MSD's is in excess of 12% with no taxes to pay.

Here is how it works, DO NOT PUT any money down as cap cost reduction, money lost if the car is totalled. Instead put the max security deposits, each one will lower your money factor by 0.07... Your payments will be lower and you get back the money at the end of the lease, which in your case will help you pay for excess mileage. Just make sure to buy the excess mileage 6 months prior to lease end.

Other suggestions:

Forget the M-sport (unless you have to have Lemans Blue), and buy the bumpers and steering wheel yourself...

Do euro delivery if you can, experience alone is worth it, and if you go on a budget you will get to save some money on the car in the process

Leases come in two general forms:
- Operating leases
- Capital leases

Depending on the terms of the lease, your company may have to account for it as a capital lease and accordingly depreciate the leased property.

Most short term leases probably won't meet the criteria for being classified as capital leases, but it is still possible.

Not only that, but the 3.7 liters Infinity engine consumes more gas. you save on the long run.

I just had a guy bite the bullet on the 335 coming from the Audi and Infiniti before that. Granted he got a good deal but he said he had choose the other two up against the BMW the last 2 times and regretted it, for me it seemed like a no brainer.

I'm not sure how applicable this will be as mine was a purchase (not a lease) but here it goes:

335i Sedan (manual, RWD)
Cold Weather Package
Heated Steering Wheel
Navigation system
Harman Kardon surround sound system
iPod and USB adapter
Satellite radio with 1 year subscription
Anti-theft alarm system
BMW Assist with Bluetooth

MSRP = $47,500
Invoice = $43,710
MY PRICE= $43,200
Doc fee = $190

No other fees were charged, other than title and license plate stuff (under $50 total). So, unless it was wrapped up into my price "behind the scenes" I wasn't charged MACO and training.

Hope that helps!
