Sticking Calipers?

I wonder if any one else has experienced a somewhat loud "clunking" sound when applying their brakes in driveway, or parking lot type situations? I first noticed this with my window down while in a bank drive thru. Couldn't believe it was me. Took it to my dealer, and they told me they compared it to other 3 series they had in stock, and they all seemed to have this sound in light braking situations. It sounds to me like a caliper that sticks initially, and breaks loose after a second with a mechanical clunk.

Sounds like the sound of the brake pads when they are worn off... but I could be wrong.

same happened to mine, ive heard that other people have had this problem. it should stop once the brakes start to get some wear on them.

I've got 7,000+ miles on the car. Would you think it is still related to the mileage on the brakes?

well mine had about 9200 miles, and it was doing that still but not badly. if it does it too much longer, go to the dealer and get it checked

Mine have 2,300 Kms, they stick when the car has just been washed (winter here) in the garage (so no ice) overnight.

Otherwise no clunking.

Do you have aftermarket wheels? It could be your valve stem on the inside of your wheel. I was experiencing a similar noise when accelerating around 1,000 rpms. The nut was lose on the inside, the centifical force was pulling it and making it hit the interior wall of the wheel. After 1,000 rpms, there was too much force for it to move.
Try pulling the tire off and checking it out.
