Great job on the build (from an E92 M3 owner). I see you went to great lengths to use many M3 components, might I suggest a few details?

Many of us change the stock shifter to the shorter Performance knob, lit versions are available - perhaps the shift effort is just fine in yours, though!

Powdercoat/hi-temp paint the muffler black or a dark grey - the OEM muffler is an eyesore and since you went to the trouble of customizing it internally and applying dark chrome to the tips, why not hide that ugly muffler?

Replace pre-LCI Start/stop with '09+ Stop/Start button

Grigio Silverstone is a beautiful color and would be high on my list if I were in the market for a current F-car. How did you obtain the paint? Why not paint the trunk lid (optional clear coat blend on the trunk lip to show off the CF weave) to show off this beautiful color?

And since you've clearly been taken over by the mod bug, some I predict for the future: BBK - IMHO I love yellow calipers on grigio and would spec them in my hypothetical F-car. And performance seats or other racing shells - though I understand these last two mods chip into the savings over an actual M3.

Overall, impressive work and really a beautiful car. I bet you can make it out handle a stock M, it's clearly already more powerful. Cheers and just positive criticism here - no offence intended! Enjoy in good health.

Phil

Very observant and excellent comments! I'm definitely with you on painting the muffler portion and it is high on the list. I originally had the BMW Performance knob but didn't like the feel of it so ended with the stock M3 shifter which gave me the right feel from gear to gear (must be the leverage that the extra height gives)

I'm with you all the way on the performance seats (I would trim these to the same color as the interior and BBK (Most definitely yellow) but hit the nail right on the head! I couldn't justify the cost after all the cash I poured into the other mods! But I really dont think it will ever handle as well as a real M3

I think the answer would be that taxes makes it almost as expensive as buying one from the dealer

great work, i love the colour.

As for the usual "why not get a M3" questions, car costs are diffrent the world over, and here in my country, we have many 335i->M3 conversions as well cos

I think this shows how someone can obtain a dream! I have to give you credit man. You knew what you wanted an you found a way to do it!

Congrats to you. May you drive the hell out of it and enjoy every minute!!!!

My dream car (within reason that is) has always been an m3. When I bought one 4 months ago I felt privileged and special.

Great job and love the paint!!!

You did a nice job with the conversion. Love the paint color

A few minor critiques: why didn't you retrofit the sway bars/suspension bits of an M3 to handle all that extra power? The 335 brakes look a bit bizarre and small for the massive 20" wheels. A BBK or even OEM M3 brakes or something along those lines would complement this car. Finally, as someone already pointed out, you should remove the M3-labeled side gills, as this isn't an M3.

Cheers

You did a great job. I resent the dumbing down of the looks of the 3 series because BMW wants to market a more expensive car with distinctive looks. This doesnt stop them from marketing a 328 which looks exactly (well except for the tail pipes) like a 335. The M-sport appearance package is a pretty weak attempt at getting more money out of 3 series owners. I think in many ways the M-sport looks worse than the normal look anyway. Besides, the M-sport is pathetic look compared to the M3 appearance.

More power to you, but I too would take any M3 logos off, the look is great, why spoil it with a sort of wanna-be logo.
