They were actually lower if anything.

It made very little difference.

Forgot interest, hire it, interest doesn't come into it then.

Gangzoom,

Yep, with a lease it's just a rental contract.

You have no sight of the background purchase price / residual / interest etc etc.

Just a simple £/m figure is you you need to know.

I'm really enjoying the simplicity of it all, zero worries, pay the agreed money, drive/use the car just as if it's your own and then at the end they come and collect it, you don't even have to drive it to the supplier. Easy.

The beauty is that already I know that the E63 will be collected on exactly the 2nd Jan 2015, so 6 months before that I can spec and order a new car for delivery to me on the 2nd Jan 2015, so they will get it and then hold it until 2nd Jan and I won't pay till 2nd Jan.

Then come 2nd Jan old car goes, new car arrives

That's pretty much what I do but most need at least a deposit with order.

Yes, sorry, of course a smallish deposit to pay to secure the order (mine was £1000 on the E63, but they said this was high due to the low volume of the vehicle)

But this deposit amount was then deducted from the initial payment due on delivery of the car to me (not delivery to the supplier)

Best deal on an E220 CDI estate? I have found £277 on a 9+23 with 10k.

Also, for the guys who regularly lease, have you ever been bitten by damages charges when you hand it back? I googled it but all I found were horror stories about people getting charged a million pounds to replace a lightbulb. Trying to get a more balanced view.

The charges for damage are no worse than the trade in deductions a car dealer would make if you were selling it.

My Merc lease pack came with a plastic damage measuring thing with different sized holes in it to measure the size of dings and scratches.

You are allowed 1 small ding per panel as "wear and tear" but you get charged for anything more.

The gauge measures wheel scuffs and stone chips too.

Its all written down and clear, so you'll know what bill is coming before you return it, so you could choose to get it repaired yourself if you think thats cheaper.

Corsa VXR

£147 a month on a 6 +23 deal based on 10k miles per year. I doubt you'll find anything faster for less.

I had a shot in the R, it is pretty decent, but very overhyped in my opinion.

Quite a few cheap parts, especially the seats and the way everyone goes on about it you'd think it was the fastest car on the road. On the move I think a 335i will still be faster.

0-60mph times are 0.6sec quicker with DSG and 4WD, but at 100mph the 335i is only 0.2-0.4 secs behind depending what times you take. The M135i won't have an issue leaving it.

The guys who have them are also getting very poor fuel consumptions. The claims are 40mpg where real world figures by owners seem to be a genuine 25 - 27 mpg. That's awful from a new 2.0.

I've only seen two on the road so far even though they are getting pushed very hard through lease deals.

I spoke to the Aberdeen dealer in February and they were boasting they had sold 20 before anyone seen it.

They had one ready to be registered on the 1st March as their demo and another new one for sale.

4 months later the white one, with the better wheels, has now been pre registered as they can't shift it.

The Seat Leon Cupra also beat it by a margin in track tests. Less power and FWD and still quicker.

The talk about the R is pretty relentless on many of the car forums just now.
