Oil Dripping
Hi folks,
I have owned my car for almost 10 months now, never had any sort of major problems with it except HPFP recall from the dealership. This morning I had to move my car from my assigned spot in the garage to another one and I notice d some oil patches right under the area where my cars front portion parks. My question is this covered under CPO? I have a 2007 335i. |

Are you sure the spots weren't there already from another car? Otherwise, you have to take it into the dealer. Nobody here can tell you what it is, and whether or not it's covered. :/

if your car is an auto, it could be the mechatronic seal leak, very common on auto tranny, the leak location should be right underneath the gear shifter, if you see oil in that location where you parked, then its prob mechatronic seal.
after you parked your car, put a new piece of cardboard under the car, that way you know where it leaked and if it leaked at all, if no oil stain, then its prob leaked from some other car and you will have nothing to worry about |

Patrick, thanks for the suggestion. The current spot seems to be right under the gear so I think its the seal you are talking about. I am going to do the cardboard trick to confirm it. Is it an expensive repair if it comes to down to that?

the seal itself is something like $30.00, labor will prob cost you a few hours, then the tranny fluid will set you back another couple hundred, but since your car is CPO'd, its covered. so all and all will prob cost you the deductible only, is it $50? I think.

Thanks Patrick, you are right, its 50$ deductible. If I take it to the dealership, would suggest any other issues related to this problem that I should ask them to look into?

So which do you have CPO, or the extended warranty plan? CPO would mean you bought the vehicle used and the dealership CPO'd it before you bought it. Extended warranty plan means you bought an extended warranty. Two very different things. CPO is an extension of the factory warranty and covers everything the factory warranty does. The extended warranty protection plan does not. edit: CPO also has a $50 deductible, my mistake. Last edited by Bmwguy11; 09-26-2011 at 02:40 PM.. |

CPO definitely has a deductible. $50 per visit.
CPO also definitely does NOT cover everything the factory warranty does.

Possibly a Leaking Mechatronic Sealing Sleeve. Known issue on ZF 6HP Transmissions.
See attached TSB
