e90's for $60 over invoice !!?

I placed an order on a 330xi here in Connecticut (in the middle of winter) on Monday. After negotiating with 4 dealers, I went with the lowest price which was $1250 over invoice, plus a $200 advertising fee, plus a $275 conveyance fee. The dealer is including two sets of floor mats, a set of wheel locks, and the alarm at a reduced price of $450.

Shortly after placing the order and giving the dealer a $1000 deposit, I read a post on here where a fellow member said he just ordered an e90 from one of the dealers I negotiated with for $60 over invoice plus a $295 conveyance fee. That's $1370 lower than what I paid.

At first, I could not believe that any dealer would sell a car at $60 over invoice. Even factoring in the conveyance fee and kickback from BMW, the dealer is left with maybe $200 in profit on a $40k after paying the salesperson. I just don't see any dealer selling a car on this low a profit, but after a few private messages the member insists he really did get the car for this price.

His story made me a little sick to my stomach, seeing as though I spent days researching price and negotiating with 4 dealers, including the one that he says gave him the car for $60 over invoice plus $295 for conveyance. (Their offer to me was $2205 over invoice plus $295 conveyance.)

Has anyone else walked out the door with their e90 for $60 over invoice, or did this member just have a really lucky day? Keep in mind, the XI models here in CT (especially during the winter) are in heavy demand, and this is an ordered car.

If the rest of you are getting $60 over invoice too, I don't think I will like my BMW as much. But I don't think I've ever seen anyone on this board getting that kind of deal before.

Thanks for any feedback...

60 dollars is not real. It's either he worked/works there or has other relationship. Otherwise, $500 over invoice to $1500 over invoice is a good deal.

Unless he was the GSM or the GSM's son - that sounds like a one-time very special case. $60 over invoice is outrageous.

I got $470 over (advertising fee included) and I thought that was pretty unbeatable already.

I got $750 over in CT, but I went with the 330i which I think is easier to deal on during the winter.

$60 over invoice is pretty unbelieveable.

If the dealer was willing to go that low, why not just sell @ invoice? what difference will $60 make?

I don't believe anyone got $60 over invoice unless they are the GM or GMs family.

He might get it, but they made some extra profit on his trade in or finance. Dealers use to this a lot, they please you on something and they make their profit on something else.

It was me who paid 60 over invoice + 299 conveyance fee. I am in no way related to anyone at any dealership.

I am financing the car (5 years) and I was approved with captial one @ 6.25%. I did not tell the dealer before i negotiated a price that i will be financing it. After i signed the paperwork, I told the dealer if they could get me a lower rate then 6.25 i would finance through them. BMW gave me 5.89% rate, so I will finance through them once the car is delivered.

So i guess they were gambling on me whether i would finance through them. If i find a lower rate then 5.89 in the meantime (before car is delivered) then i will not finance through BMW.

If i do finance through BMW, yes i guess they will make more money (though im not sure if the dealer gets some or the bank gets it all). If i do not, the bmw dealer is left with $60+$299 fee.

Oh and i did have 2 dealers in a fight over my business. One dealer caved. It was either a sale with low profit, or no sale. Wouldn't you sell it rather than none at all? it was also at month end...

I know... I'm on my way to the dry cleaners now... to pick up my flame-proof suit.

I'd like to see a digital picture or scan of the deal too, if for no reason other than to prove us non-believers wrong.

Exactly...

... at this point it would appear that the person making this claim is a liar. I find it disturbing how frequently people post complete bull sh!t on the web in an effort to look like some sort of big shot.

Agreed - it's far too easy to lie and there are plenty of people who are gullible enough to eat up those lies. But I, like Speed, am not one of them. A little proof please.

That's an awesome deal. I had same thing going with the G35, but at the last second I just wanted to wait out for the IS250 or 325i, so I didn't sign. Two weeks later I saw the new 325i and I fell in love with it. I did test drive the IS250, didn't really impress me. It didn't have the road feel like my beemer. Anyway, making a deal with 2 dealers or faking it at the end of the month will definitely have them going at each other for your business.

I guess we won't be seeing a scan or digital picture as proof.
