Sorry to revive this thread, I just got selected for the event in Toronto.
I get to drive the cars right? Are they manual or automatic? Anything I should expect?

Yes you do, they should have a fleet of manual and a fleet of automatic cars. Mix of 128 and 135s for you to test out within a coned track...

If it's like the one out here, the main point of comparison will be active vs. non-active steering. The course is laid out to show the advantages of active steering. About an equal allotment of 128's and 135's. Only a couple of manual trannys, though.
It's where I got the coupon for the free wheel and tire insurance when I picked up my 335 a couple of weeks ago. They tried to weasel out of it by saying that you had to get a 1 series, but the big words across the top saying 'Buy or lease any BMW within 90 days...' stopped that argument pretty quickly. |

I'd agree with that. It's a very cool setup, and you leave thinking how can I go without AS??? But then you read up on it, and see very few people, esp. car nuts and critics, actually recommending it. It's more of a safety feature than a performance one, and IIRC, I read that the M cars don't offer it as an option, which should tell you something... So I ordered mine without it.
