Needing local shops

My warranty expired and service light came on - Classic BMW emailed me saying I need to schedule - I asked how much it will cost me and he gave me a quote:

Brake flush $216.00

MicroFilter $398.00

Standard scope $85.00

I need a local shop that can do it for less then that - I know it doesn't cost that much.

if you have the time you can do the micro filter in about 10 minutes. Brake flush would be something you could get done for cheap or if you have a buddy with a pump it would be really cheap.

scope, not sure about.

The MicroFilter takes like 4 bolts.

I'll prob take it to dealer for scope and find a shop to do break fluid - just want to do it somewhere with good reptuation

Hey yea I was just editing my post, but yea probably a good idea. It really doesn't take a great shop to do a flush. As long as they put in the correct dot3(i believe) and get air out. Is your brake fluid brown?

ecs tuning should have the filter, or you can call the dealership and see how much they charge. I want to say it was like 70 bucks at the dealership.

Yea I found a buddy of mine and his dad is a mechanic -- doing my brake flush for $160 including labor.
Didn't check the color yet - currently at work

Kevin says:
Are you sure?
Kevin says:

Service Coordinator Lahela says:
I'm sorry, I am unsure as to how I was provided with the other amount, but for a microfilter on a 2008/335I would be $51.80

LOL! What filters was that crazy person typing in! Cool, well I'm glad it is working out to be cheaper for you.

I think brake fluid changes at NTB and such will be fine too... just saying. Might be cheaper than 160 bucks. I "think" I was quoted $75 or $80 but ended up doing it myself.

NTB quoted $110 out the door tax included for break fluid flush. (still need to do this asap)

replaced the cabin filter myself and did the oil change myself ... over all saved me some money

Let me tell you about Classic, they are the highest priced shop in the area, hands down!

They wanted to charge me over 1k for a valve cleaning (walnut shell blasting) when other BMW shops in the area (BMW of Dallas on Lemmon) charge only $550.

They also quoted me $600 just to replace a coolant temp sensor.

Classic overcharges!

Yeah, Classic is way overpriced. BMW Dallas is better, but I am still under warranty for 4.5 more months...

I used to take my E39 to Dallas Auto Sports (http://www.dallasautosports.com/). Nice guys, fair prices, good work.

Did you get your valves cleaned at BMW Dallas? How long did it take? Thinking about getting mine done there; I'm definitely due for this.

I might have some time this weekend. It won't take long, just bring the right fluid and some beer for me. I've done my car, my girls, the truck, and done complete brake jobs for others. I can also teach you how so you can just buy the tools the next time you need it. It is really easy.
