You would be accepting the same risk (voiding the warranty) in N.A. if you brought the car for transmission issue and dealership found out that you've made changes to it and/or differential

I have never felt less control or less safe with a LSD, always better in rain or shine. What I have felt before in heavy rain or on a flooded road with DSC active the car fells the rear tires slip especially up hill and just keeps applying rear brakes fighting the throttle you are applying so you can't go up hill fast even if you go full throttle. I can see how this would feel like your rear tire were just spinning so you can't get up the hill. If you hit deep water fast enough the car will hydro plane but it has nothing to do with the diff. The surface area of the tires is pretty big so 60mph into a puddle and yea.

Right. Only if the dealer can prove that the LSD caused the problem. But, yes, we always accept that risk when we modify something.

If dealership voids the warranty by stating it was caused by modification, IMHO the burden is on a car owner to prove that it didn't

Open diff with DSC or DTC intervention = scary and unpredictable with 380-430 whp = fried rear brake pads
with LSD = predictable control and happy rear brakes = more power to the ground and faster acceleration in a straight line and out of corners. One of my top 3 mods in no particular order = Tune, Meth, LSD |

You're one of the lucky to find/have dealership that's MOD friendly...

Its turns out that there is No LSD offered by Quaife, Dinan or Wavetrac for AT 335i's after 2007.
It also turns out that Wavetrac is being sued by Quaife. Wavetrac was a direct distributer for Quaife and in turn they copied and modifed the LSD. Since Quaife is overseas and the currency always changes it can be difficult to get a fixed price for the Quaife right now. I spoke to Koala Motorsports in Ohio about their LSD but I don't know how reliable they are.

It might work but after calling about 5 shops they all say that the LSD was made for models before 07.

I'm 09 AT and I got a quaife installed a few weeks ago. FYI: all AT's are bolted, and there's a quaife that fits. Harold at Hp autowerks has them on stock. |

Oh ok I see what you guys are talking about now. You just need a shop that can cut of the rings and then you can use the older quaife or wavetrac model. Wavetrac said they will be coming out with a new LSD for the newer welded 07+ models

Can't speak on Wavetrac, but my understanding is that there are two versions of the Quaife LSD on the market for newer and older models.. the newer quaife is smaller ..

If you find the right shop, they'll get you a new core, install the Quaife/Wavetrac in it and off you go with minimum downtime. You then get (full) credit back for your old core. |
