Given the crap I flushed from mine the other week, there's no way 1L would be enough.

Also remember you can't store brake fluid for more than a few weeks once opened as it absorbs the moisture in the air and goes off, so if you buy a 5 litre bottle and use 2, you'll have to throw 3 litres away that are left over.

That's why 5L bottles are meant for trade garages really.

Consumer bottles are 500ml or 1l for that reason.

Thanks. I'll probably grab 4 X 500ml bottles then for 2 litres overall.

I bought 5L because is same price as 2L of ATE fluid.
And when I will change it I will offer in here maybe some one want to do same time and we can split a cost. You will not gona get 2.5L for £11?
If no one wants then recycling centre is not far from me

don't forget that olive oil is a healthy product...
anyway, I ll also buy a 5lt for myself since it costs same as a 2lt and I don't know how many I ll need in total (1.5lt/ 2lt/ 2.5lt) .

PS: I thought that you could store a properly closed brake fluid can for 3-4 months since the day you open it, not only for few weeks

Maybe, I wouldn't as you've let in moist air when you opened it.

But in reality since you won't need any more for 2 years, it basically needs chucking.

Can someone please tell me what's a "flush through"?

My brake fluid service is due in 5 months time... might get it done sooner.

Think its just basically draining the old and bleeding through new oil, bmw charge £140 for doing it when its probably half hours work if you buy a decent self bleeding kit

ATE super blue Dot4

Blue in colour so you can easily tell when its bled through. The colour is not road legal apparently but i've not had any issues

this is super handy for flushing fluid, as you can instantly tell when the new fluid is through.

and then on the next change, flip back to "normal" stuff for again the same colour change.

its pretty good fluid as well for daily driver anyway, its not that great on track for heavy cars
