One of my wheels around the "bmw" badge cap has started oxidising, car is an 09 plate with 14K on the clock, wheels were fitted by the dealer I bought the car from in 2010 so they are only 2years old and have only covered around 6000miles, always used either just soap or billbery PH neutral wheel cleaner so not like it's "wonder wheels" damage.
I think BMW only have a 2 year anti-corrosion policy on wheels, but has anyone had simmilar problem with the 313's and went to the dealer about it? I know they are diamond cut and thus it's only a matter of time before they start to go downhill but for the mileage they've done, the care i've taken to keep them good i'd have thought they might last a bit longer! |

They're a total nightmare these wheels! The dealer themselves have said they won't last in tip top condition longer than 2 years
If BMW don't agree to change are you going the recondition route, or respray? |

You've had 313 wheels for 5 years?
Weren't they launched with the LCI E92? Which means they've been available for not much more than 2 years, no?

Warm water with generous amounts of Meguiars Wash and Wax added. Use a cone shaped brush to get to the very back of the wheels and between spokes.... hose off... wipe dry.... done!
All 4 wheels takes 10mins, and they look polished and sparkling clean. Here's the product..

Also I good idea to remove the centre caps after you wash your car/wheels and remove any water with a paper towel/cloth. Should help and extends the life of those crappy centre caps too!

Acerboo/QLD - Jammy! all it takes is a stone chip which you can't prevent unfortunately thejimreaper - good idea, got some aswell! uke92dude, also a good idea, but a bit of a pain if the wheels aren't off I have a feeling that the remains of some IronX has been stuck on the rim of a centre cap, between that and the wheel from lack of proper rinsing but can't be 100% sure

I have had my two rear 313's replaced under warranty! Both were beginning to show corrosion damage dealer had no issues replacing them!
Alloys never had any kerb damage.

had all 4 of my wheels chaanged under warranty last week for the lacquer "clouding" around the roundels. My car is a May 2010 or over 2 years old but still under 3, so it was covered.

If you don't get anywhere with the dealer, you can always have them refurbished.
The 313's on my previous E90 (well the 2 that never got refurb'ed) went for 3 years and over 60k miles without any corrosion or marks appearing. And I used wonder wheels loads of times, as well as bilberry and various other wheel cleaners of varying toxicity. |
