People have to understand that even at 10:00 it can still be 96F! You'll no doubt run much faster when it's not 105deg outside. Did did your IATs look like? Have you dyno'd locally?

Hope you can make it out the next time we run

I'm not sure what those LS3 vettes usually run, but I'm guessing mid-low 12s with a good driver?
In comparison, my LS3 A6 vette runs 7.39 @ 96 in the 1/8th. The track elevation is 1700 ft above and the DA was around 2000 ft that day.
Not sure what it would run in the 1/4 but I think it should be in the mid 11's.
My mods are longtubes, 3:15 gears [ stock was 2:73 ] , Yank converter and is tuned. Oh, I run MT drag radials too.
It makes 399 rwhp.

So a stock ls3 without slicks is probably a mid to low 12 sec car.

Maybe, but I have still to see any 11 second Z06 or 12 second GT500 there. And that's with good drivers...

Ya, I think on a good day, with stock tires, a low to mid 12 is possible.

My car ran 12.40 @ 115 in stock form, up at a private track rental in Fontana. The conditions could have been better, it was 105F that day and the DA was around 4500ft.

My Cobb tuned 535 is quick and can probably run a mid 13 but it can't hang with my LS3. I love my turbo car though, and is just as much fun to drive as the vette.

Lol, I cannot comment on people's driving ability only on my experience with my previous cars on that track. Perhaps it is slower than some tracks, but it's not crazy off (unless something has changed). In the end, it is what it is.

I don't doubt I'll run slow in this heat. Winter will be fun

Wow, when I was at Fontana, none of the Z06 Vettes hit 11's. A built CTS-V that came on a trailer came close. May 5th, here are some exact time slips:

Mustang 5.0 13.892 at 105.84
C6 Z06 12.990 at 116.18
STS Vspec 13.691 at 102.46 approx 460HP?
Caliber SRT4 14.137 at 102.36 18PSI
Modded 350Z 14.525 at 97.42
Modded CTSV 12.128 at 115.84
Nissan GTR 11.781 at 119.34
Newer WRX 13.977 at 97.50
Camaro SS 14.141 at 106.83 Modded exhaust +?
300 SRT8 13.796 at 110.04
Mustang GT 13.346 at 105.46 modded with drag tires
Nismo 350Z 14.525 at 97.42
C6 Z06 12.277 at 117.30
Scion TC 18.017 at 84.30
Neon SRT4 14.813 at 97.17
2nd Caliber SRT4 16.152at 97.30
Evo MR 13.805 at 102.78
135i JB4 Map#5 13.5 at 104.52
335i JB4 dryshot 11.55 at 124.37

As you can tell, with an uphill run, bad DA, headwinds, Fontana is a slow track. If you did 115mph stock at Fontana, you did very well. Does your stock LS3 trap 10mph faster trap than a new 5.0? I would go back there for practice, but they kicked me out for running 11.5x and having no roll bar or harness .

Amazingly low trap speeds for those particular vehicles, that must be a slow track...

So a 13.0 at 113.X is a respectable time given the almost 100 degree weather?

I'll look for my time slips from that day. I guess I wasn't exactly stock cause I was already running headers and had the 3:15's in the car. The car came with 2:73's from factory. I was making 373rwhp at that time. I ran the car about 8 times and if I remember correctly the best pass was 12.39 @ 114.9. Alot of other passes were in the 12.50 range but as the track started going away, I slowed to a 12.70 @ 113.
There was a 580rwhp head/cam Z06 that was running 11.90's @ 123 but he slowed down later on and was running 12.10's @ 119-120. He told me that he usually runs 128-130mph up there but the heat was really slowing him down that day. Don't know if I believe him. Every time I raced him, I had him until half track and then he pulled about 3-4 lengths at the end.
Another friend brought out his 2008 GT500 to Fontana that day. I raced him only once but I smoked him bad. I ran 12.50 @ 113 and he went 13.56 @ 105. That's all he could do. The GT500 had some Shelby exhaust and cold air that was installed at the Ford dealership.
I was on stock runflats but the track was prepped really well. I run Barona 1/8th mile all the time and with that setup, the best I could run was 8.01 @ 92 mph. Now, with the Yank 3600 and drag radials, the car goes 7.39-7.42 @ 95.50 - 96 mph.
I can't remember that last time I raced a 5.0 Stang but if it's stock or close to stock, my car would probably beat it by at least 10mph. Last time I raced a Mustang, it was at Qualcom. It was a 4.6 with 100shot. I spun the tires at the line so he got me from the start but I caught him and still beat him by a car length.
I would install a cam, but I don't want to get into the motor and most likely I will run too fast in the 1/8th and would have to install a cage, which I don't want to do.

Yup, that is amazing how much HP the GT500 has, and yet I see them running 13's at around 107mph at the drag strip. But yes..Fontana is terrible. DA/Incline/Headwinds...its a heartbreaker track. There was one car that impressed me a bunch. It was a mild mannered WRX that ran 9's and was beating motorcycles! Here is a video of it running a modded CTS-V that had a support crew/trailer.

Damn, that WRX hauls.
What did the Caddy run?
Hey, do you still have the GN?
I might be picking one up this fall.

The Caddy ran low 12's at 115mph, the Subie ran 136mph!
The GN is in my driveway, but the motor is out of it right now.
Got race heads, ported intake, billet main bearing caps, TE63-1, and Turbonetics downpipe, Hooker headers, KB intercooler, etc.
