Full Detail vs Exterior Detail @ BMW Dealer
Hello,
I am getting my detail done at Habberstad BMW Huntington in Long Island. I was wondering if the interior detail is worth it? They have a separate package to just do outside. Thanks! |

Typically detail services from the car dealer are never worth it. IMO you would be much better off taking it to a shop that specializes in car detailing instead of the dealer.

Same here. I still cringe every time I see the buffer trails they left on my hood

Same here. Now they're paying for an exterior detail done by a reputable shop.

Yep. Stay away from dealer for exterior detailing. Previous owner did the bmw spa thing on a regular basis. The amount of swirls and other fine scratches in my paint blows. Got the swirls taken care of by someone who know what they are doing.

Like everyone has already said DO NOT get it done at a dealership. They usually have kids just out of high school getting minimum wage would could give to shits about your car. I can't even count how many things could go wrong. Take it to a place that has to maintain a positive reputation and only does detailing.

I would always go find a guy who works from home on the side. Those seem to be some of the best car detailers out there. And most likely a lot cheaper than a professional shop as well. I have 3 solid guys on my detailer call list.

I have never heard of a positive dealer detail experience. Although I have never brought my car for a detail, I did bring my 2002 Nissan Pathfinder last year for an interior detail. For $100ish, it looks like all they did was run the vacuum through and put down some paper floor mats. I asked the service manager to come outside and look at the car again and questioned whether he thought the outcome was professional. He agreed with me that it wasn't very good, and even admitted that the service department had been swamped. Thus, he agreed to redo the work, and it did come out better (but not great).
My point is, don't go to the dealer!!! |

go dealer if you want a bunch of high schoolers doing a summer job not caring about what they are doing playing with your paint job.

I purchased a used 2011 E90 in December of 2012, the car spent the previous 10 months as a dealer service loaner at "The World Famous BMW of Beverly Hills". When I took delivery, it included the "Dealer Installed Swirl Option". They totally trashed an Alpine White BMW to the point where the swirl marks were visible in all types of light, on a white car! I removed all of it using a Meguiar's dual action polisher, Ultimate Compound and Ultimate wax.
Don't let a dealer do it. Contact somebody in your area, you can probably find a good detailer in your area in this link http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...etailer-Wanted |

I hit the jackpot - My wife had a minor accident with our Honda Civic, and we took the car to a auto body shop with a great rep. The car looked as good as the day we drove it off the showroom floor.
I asked the owner if he did detailing, and he told me that they "outsource" it to a local guy - the owner called the guy and set up appointments for both our cars. He did an absolutely amazing job on my BMW and Honda Civic. My point is that a great local body shop could point you to a fantastic detailer. But DO NOT use a dealer for a detail! |

It is not a good idea in general. If you have a dark color paint.....absolutely not!!!! You do so at your own risk. Just go to the dealership on a sunny day and you will be amaze by the number of NEW cars that has swirls and holograms on them.
