What type of socket are mostly used on BMWs, hex or torx socket?

Canadian Tire has their MM 14 piece impact torx and hex socket sets on sale for $20 (regular $50). So I wanted to know whether the torx or hex socket impact set would come in to use more often.

I missed seeing those items in this weeks flyer. Sale ends today so it looks like I will have to wait the next time around when they go on sale.

I figured the impact sockets would come in handy for those days you have to loose bolts like for the brake calipers and you need an impact wrench. But then again, I think those have plastic boots that go over them to protect from water, dirt.

The calliper slider pins do have dust caps on them, and these are not torqued very high (35Nm). I would not use an impact gun on these!

The calliper bracket bolts on the other hand are much higher (110Nm) and fully exposed. These will take a bit more force, but nothing that a standard breaker bar can't remove.

PS. If you do plan on doing your own brakes, make sure you get a 7mm hex bit for the slider pins, and an 18mm socket for the calliper bolts - some of the basic kits do not have these sizes!
