Can you get a buzz from the patches if you don't smoke?

they only give you two weeks worth, and you still crave. The only thing that stops you is if you smoke while on the patch there is a possibility of increasing your heart rate, which could lead to heart attack and/or death. But GL. Didnt work for me.

Nicotine patches may make you jittery and feel all hopped up. This is because it's a 24 hour constant stream of nicotine flowing into your system whereas a cigarette delivers a burst. Medically speaking though, the NRT or nicotine replacement therapies (ie. patches/gum/lozenges) don't work very well because they get you to stop smoking but keep you on nicotine so when you stop the NRT, your brain still needs nicotine and most of the time you go back to cigarettes. It's largely a ploy by the drug companies to keep you buying those patches/lozenges, which usually runs about 30-50 bucks per box.
On the other hand, if you're serious about quitting, and you have to want to quit in order to really quit, go for Chantix. It's the best thing to quit smoking seeing as how it weans your body off nicotine by competitively binding to the nicotinic receptors in your brain and slowly releasing nicotine's grip on controlling your body's release of dopamine, therefore releasing your brain for requiring nicotine to function. Many insurances now cover smoking cessation products because of it's role in increasing risk for later, more costly diseases such as hypertension, heart attack, stroke, etc. Fun fact of the day - nicotine from a cigarette reaches your brain and begins binding to nicotinic sites in less than 1 second after inhaling the cigarette smoke and nicotine is the only addictive drug where you don't get a "high" but more a sense of relief and that's due to how it works. |

Good Luck Quitting
My fiancée and I quit with the aid of NYQuits and we haven't smoked since October 02, 2007. They gave us each enough to quit and stay quit. (6-8 weeks each) I was a very heavy smoker and haven't had one since. You really have to want it because I almost caved a bunch of times. We had some of our worst fights ever while quitting together, but it was definitely worth it. I wish you success.
