Forza 4 Demo Review : )
Wow!!! That is all I can say after playing this game. Turn 10 has done it again. I was lucky to get a code before the demo is released!! Here is my mini review. Ahead of time, I am sorry for the audio. Didn't have my mic set up all the way. Also, I am sad because I had taken about 3 hours worth of gameplay from 9 pm to 12 am only to realize my capturing device wasn't set up properly and recorded very badly(unplayable). So, since I have to wake up tomorrow morning really early, I did Part 1. The party will continue tomorrow and there will be MUCH more videos. If you want something, let me know and I will do my best to record it. First thing I notice is the new tires/physics handling. The car feels connected to the road now completely. Everything you do is connected and affects your driving. You can feel bumps better now, and the drivers hand seems to struggle more in the animations, which shows you struggling. On curves, you feel the pressure of the tires holding you back as you push and accelerate through. There is a lot more tire smoke : ). It was the first thing I saw when looking through my rear view mirror at the start of the race. A real sense of speed. Especially in the Zonda. Holy cow! you feel so fast and it makings driving SCARY. Especially in the Alps map, it feels as if you make a mistake, you are going to go flying off the cliff : (. This game has got me really excited. I feel pressure when driving. I never really got that feeling in forza, the feeling that 1 small mistake and your gone. AI battles you. There were a few times when the AI bumped me into the wall and took the lead. In the first video I choose hard, and I got first, but in Expert I am yet to get first : ). Graphics!! Wow, I wasn't expecting much, but I was simply BLOWN away. I am more PUMPED and I want my game to get here now!! Everything looks 1000x better with IBL. It really does make a difference. Since the game is on same console as FM3 I was expecting maybe a slight bump, but this looks like an entire new generation. Congrats turn 10!! Anyways, I have to sleep now. More videos, review, and hopefully even a live stream tomorrow!! The M5 is amazing btw :3

I played a demo at the Petit Le Mans. The scenery was beautiful, the cars were pretty good but not quite as good as the premium cars in GT5 (at least on the track).
What I really didn't like though was the driving. It felt just a little sloppy compared to GT5 and not as precise. I would slow down enough for a turn to where I thought I would be able to take it no problem, then a second later I'm off the track. They even hooked us up with the Fanatec Forza wheel which was really nice, but that might just be the wheel or the sensitivity settings that caused it. I guess I just need more time with it. I also got the chance to spend time on an iRacing sim... now THAT is what I want from a racing game! When it comes to the driving experience and the realism, iRacing > anything else

As far as the car behavior in the in car footge... I actually agree with you. One can only assume that since Forza 3 physics didnt actually drive that way, Forza 4 should drive better than it looks in the in car view.

I've been playing forza 2 lately (never bought 3) and I think it's pretty challenging. I play with all the aids off, and a few of my cars are simply not drivable anywhere near their limits. Don't spend much time in factory-spec cars in these games.
Also a drastic difference in driving dynamics between cars. Anyway, looking forward to F4. Pretty excited to see how the kinect will feel while driving. |

Well guys to be honest, I was really never into simulation racing. I didn't even care about cars really until I got my mini cooper when I was 16. Before then, all I really played was need for speed because it was cool.
Now, during the summer, I had an itch to play a real racing game, and someone recommended Forza 3 since I have an Xbox 360. So, any comparisons I make are based on Forza 3. I have heard good things about iracing, but I don't have a steering wheel(yet). Compared to Forza 3, it is a lot better, but based on other sims I can't say because I don't know. Regardless, here is some footage of the 2012 M5 : ) [u2b]A couple of people had questions for me regarding the damage model and amount of tire smoke, so I made a video for them. The tiresmoke is in the end. Forza 4 Demo Part IV: Taking timmy to school

I just borrowed a friend's Forza 3 to compare it to 2 and it feels MUCH more forgiving. Feels like I almost have to try to spin out, driving the same tracks and cars as 2 to make as clear a comparison as possible. With all assists off (in 3), it feels like they're still on. Even on stock tires, the game gives you way too much confidence and doesn't punish you (at all, essentially) for driving at/slightly past the limit.
Didn't realize there was this much difference before. Took me a long time to get to where I am skill-wise playing 2, but after playing 3 for a few hours, I don't even want to pick it up. Feels like NFS to me, it really does. To be honest, I'm not convinced 4 is any much better driving-wise from your videos...will have to play the demo/game and see. After spending an hour with the demo.....
~~Pros~~ - More feedback from the tires which makes driving more rewarding (holding final judgement on the physics until i race on a familiar & proper racing circuit) - Car behavior during collisions is more realistic - Engine sounds slightly improved - in garage graphics look very good. A bit too shiny but still good. ~~Cons~~ - The A.I. would still rather stop you from passing by any means than actually drive fast itself. - Not a fan of the Alps circuit, but it serves the purpose it was intended for - Im in the minority but the graphics still have that overly contrasted look where shadows are too dark and give objects no detail. Theres way too much light flickering off the edges of everything which looks very distracting. Theres certainly more detail but it gets visually overwhelmed by the aforementioned issues. - The menus have a PS2 like video game look as opposed to the more evolved look of FM3. - Either the road surfaces are still too smooth or the physics engine just isnt picking up bumps. |

Agree with this. Imo, pretty significant difference from 3, very happy after getting a feel for the cars in the demo.
