You need to go to your local BMW parts and just provide your reg And license. It's about 230-270 depending if you have comfort access. Then there's a $185 comfort access programming fee if you choose to activate that function. That's a service appointment you'd have to make.

Wow that's A LOT to pay ! Thanks for the heads up -- now I'm going to take even better notice of my keys (not that I wasn't before).

You should probably call the other three drivers and ask if they have a key that doesn't work for their car. Even if they have to overnight it, it'll be cheaper than new.

wait this may sound stupid but you can "activate?" it? so if i don't have ca, i can pay 185 at the dealer and have it? or are you saying it costs an extra 185 to activate ca if you already have it on your car?

What he said. I just had a new key done, and it cost $190. Call around, each dealer charges different.

It's $185 to activate the CA feature on your key only if your car has that. You can not have CA if your car didn't already come with it

I asked about getting a third key made when I bought my 06 in the spring, I was told it was about 350 though my local dealership. I made a mental note there and then to NEVER lose my key.
