320d (177) ECU Remaps - Options?

Evening all,

I have been reading about remaps for the 320d, didn't see any other topics comparing the remaps so I thought I would ask!

From some forum searching I've noticed P-Torque and Evolve seem to pop up often, I suppose it's a combination of being forum supporters and pleased customers but I couldn't find any direct comparisons between the two products.

P-Torque are only 30min up the road so it's a tempting prospect especially since they are face-to-face and offer a cutomised map with a dyno test (and are a bit cheaper!). But the Handheld unit from Evolve seems handy in the event I needed to remove to the map and also seem to have a very happy customer base.

So, any thoughts on a comparison of these remaps? Any other remaps I've missed?

Not sure if anything changed but when I did my research if you have a 177 engine post March 09 it cant be mapped via ODB port as ECUs are locked.

Only option is remove the ECU and code via PC.

Other option is plugin box I found DTUK dual channel system to be very decent. Andrew the owner of DTUK who is a sponsor on here can answer all the techie qs but I've been very happy with mine.

Mines a 57(2008) so from what i've read it looks like i can use most of the popular ecu maps.

I thought it was the 184 engine that hadn't been cracked.

emaps

I had my 320D remapped by emaps about 4 months ago, I'm pleased with the results. I tried a tunning box first, but the engine (software) did not like it and began hunting at idle.
No such problems with the remap, only problem was the gearbox did not like the std map that was first flashed and the power had to be reduced twice before I was happy the box was not going to go bang.

was your map done via ODB and can you easily put it to stock. What I liked with the DTUK box is it can come with 4 maps and each one you can finetune so easy to find a balance between uprate and driveability.

Yes the remap was done via the OBD port and a copy of the original was taken in case needed in the future, although I won't be changing it back

Think I'll go for p-torque, cheaper than the evolve option and its a tailored map.

Looks like I just missed their latest offers, I'll hang on til they do another promotion!

Ask them if they wiil do it at the previous offer price. Better a real customer now for them, than a potential customer in the future.

MRC map for me, used them previously on my track S4 and they know their stuff too, saw great results and the car is transformed.

Think P-torque are one of the few to be able to remap the locked ECUs without removing it.....

Considering going to them myself as I've never heard a bad word about them.
