Red face 2006 320d Turbo whistle

Hi all,

Had my e90 320d SE for a few weeks now, i've notcied under load the turbo has quite an audible whistle/whoosing noise. Can anyone confirm this is normal? I'm used to torquey PD Audis and I do feel the power delivery to be smooth albeit quite flat. I want to go down the remap route but I am a little reluctant due to a fear of an imploding turbo

I am aware that some early cars had the less desirable Mitsubishi Turbo is there any way to tell which I have, the car is a November 2006 model.

Another niggle is how notchy the gear box is which I expect when cold but even after driving for some time I find selecting 1st and 2nd gear a real chore and sometime quite hard. Not really something I expect from a car with 70k miles.

Any input on the above would be much appreciated.

cheers

Fad
