which FMIC for track days?

I plan on taking my car to DE track weekends 2 or 3 times a year. I have the stage 2 Dinan ecu flash and borla cat back exhaust. I've had heat soak issues after 3-4 consecutive quarter mile passes. where i would go from 13 flat times to 13.8 passes if I didnt let car cool. to fix this issue, ive been reading about different intercoolers to get and most recommend the Helix but being that its a step design and that it looks much taller then others such as the ETS. I was worried that helix would block air to the radiator, which would be a better option for tracking?

Anything is better than the junk unit, so pick your poison. I personally went with Helix and have no regrets with its consistent results.

Look around this site and others and you'll see several folks with dedicated track cars or dual-purpose cars running the Helix intercooler. Their results speak for themselves.

do you ever track your car w the Helix? and have any other things you've done to keep your car running cooler, such as bigger oil cooler or water based coolant? I plan on doing some DE to start out, they are only 30 min sessions at a time.

the one about how to keep our cars running cooler on track days "limp mode party"?
i read through it, its all about preventative measures nothing on what type of FMIC is recommended or any recommendations on upgrades at all.

Yeah, that one. You were asking about a bigger oil cooler and water-based coolant, both answered in that thread along with data points on how well each solution performs. I'm pretty sure there was an FMIC comparison too in the N54 engine forum

yeah already got ideas on things to do to prevent limp mode from the sticky in this forum. but do you recall the title of thread or if it was in a sticky in the n54 forum? cause I'm having a hard time finding it.

Huge difference with the Helix intercooler on 30 min track sessions, especially during the summer months.

I think I said it last time really well.

Intercooler makes WOT feel the same every time. Whether your 5 mins into the session or 25 mins into the session.

thanks, I just spent over an hour reading the thread lol
learned a little, mostly seemed bias towards Helix from that one vendor always posting up data sheets on it.

But i went with Turb0mike's recommendation for the Evolution Racewerks w a carbon shroud. thank you for everyone's input.
