Spoke with BMW NA, according to the Field Service Engineer, they diagnosed the problem to be the ENGINE HARNESS. Weird if you ask me...

Supposedly they are pretty confident from their diagnoses.

I'd be damed if that is indeed the problem, guess I just have to wait and find out next week.

So far, this car has had several injectors replaced, DDE replaced, etc. only to have codes return for "injector issues"...

Thank god the dealership has been to good to me with their loaner cars.

That's interesting. Are they stating it was loose or in need of replacement for some reason?

Replacement. Waiting for new harness to arrive at the dealership.
Can't imagine it being a repair less than $2k. The part costs $850+.

I am skeptical about the fix, hope the Engineer knows better.

I've been lurking for about 4 months but I'm right there with you guys. Problems started at 57,000 miles. I've had injector 5 replaced once, injector 2 replaced twice, and injector 4 replaced three times. Injectors continue to fail even after EGR replacement and carbon cleaning.

Last repair was a DDE replacement. I guess I should tell my SA to get a harness on hand.

Curious, what brand diesel do you use? Do you use any additives?

I used a mix of BP and Koch from a high volume station before the problems started. When they started I switched exclusively to Shell and the problems continued. I followed BMW's recommendations for no additives, but started using some last month based on reading the experiences here.

Diagnostically, I have a very controlled case. I've put in every drop of fuel this car has sipped since initial delivery. I've only ever been to 7 stations, and two of those for only 1 tank each. The brand/station mix completely changed after the issues started, and they persisted.

:-/ not encouraging. I am strongly considering letting my warranty end at 50, but posts like this scare me.

I have started reaching out to other D owners who are 2011 model owners first, and who have more mileage. These are Fuelly.com guys who have higher number of fill ups. So far out of the Seven or so who have responded none has reported a problem, but it could be they don't have enough miles yet. The highest so far is a bit under 40k. Some other issues for some, but nothing like these. I thought I might start keeping a spreadsheet of owners, dealers, mileage, etc. small sample size unfortunately.

Total repairs last year on my 335d were $8,000; my out of pocket only a little over $1,000 thank to my 100k warranty.

My own struggle is what to do now. I'll push past 100,000 mi in the next 8 weeks.

Good idea. There is a recent post where members are adding their historical details.

Should be a jump start for you. I am interested on the data you plan to put together.
Tks

Well, feel free to add me to your list, sir. I'm in a 2011 and have just over 45k to date. i will be at roughly 75-80 by EOY (one of the reasons why I have trouble justifying the warranty extension. 50k miles sounds like a lot, but it will only cover me for about a year and a quarter...one of those RAROR equations without sufficient input data on the risk side...or the return side.

I'll be at 50 by the beginning of next month and at this point will either have...
1. Extended my warranty to the tune of 2.8k or whatever it is.
2. Purchased a BT tool, walnut blasted the intake, and crossed my fingers (and perhaps purchased a meth kit or some other playful mods...what? I'll be out of warranty anyway. Go big or go home, right?)

OMG!

OMG! I just bought a nice clean 1 owner 2010 335d with 52k miles from a local car lot. I have had a 2014 535d for my wife for 2 yrs. now and love it. 80k miles on it and just did DME update and walnut blast, so I'm familiar that these cars need maintenance but after reading this and googling today I'm horrified!

I got my 335d yesterday. Noticed a stumble a bit at idle and a slight hesitation but figured it was maybe because it hadn't been driven much while for sale.

Anyway today, day 2 of ownership the SEL came on. I scanned it and it's this P02CE.

I didn't clear it, I stopped at dealer and he scanned it and tried to show me that it wasn't showing codes. I said that's funny cause I scanned it myself and it was P02CE. (He didn't know I already scanned it). He says he will make good but reading this stuff online is scaring me. I love the car so far but have they figured out how to troubleshoot this problem yet?????

What is the concensus? Is it ever just a #2 injector??

Where in NJ are you? What dealership. Odds are they are gonna want to throw parts at it for a pretty penny. Shoot me a PM

Injector replacement is fairly straight forward on these cars. Need software or someone local to code them.
