Interesting gas station conversation today...

Me: Nice car!
Guy: Thanks, just got it, my new Z4
Me: Z4??? Its a Z3. What year is it?
Guy: 2007
Me: A 2007 Z4 in a Z3 body?
Guy: Huh?
Me: What engine is it?
Guy: Its a V8!
Me: Really??? Let me see...
Guy: Sure, I'll open the hood
Me: I only see 6 cylinders
Guy: Huh? The rest must be hidden in the back
Me: Right...I forgot about those
Guy: And it has a supercharger!!
Me: That??? It looks like a CAI
Guy: Huh?
Me: Where did you get it?
Guy: I work at CarMax, got a great employee deal! If you ever need a car, come see me and I'll hook you up!
Me: Wow, you must make a lot of sales with your incredible car knowledge...

2nd post from new mid-atlantic member in VA. Padding my post count to get to 5, seems like the right place to do it!

Just joined BMW CCA and acquired my 335D about a month ago. Figured I would see if I could re-ignite the chat.

What are some of the best roads you have driven in the area?

XI's - leave your rally stories out of this one, I don't want to chip my pretty paint job.

Hey everyone, I've got a 2010 Volkswagen GTI with an aftermarket EFR turbo. pushing around 370-400whp/wtq. Just chiming in, as I'd like to see how it compares to a quicker bmw. It wasn't a competition with my buddies '08 335xi cobb stage 1, just for reference. Looking for someone local to the DMV, with at least a tune, intake, FMIC, and downpipes! No flaming please!

There's a track day at MIR March 8. Bring your car and race there. Plenty of different cars will be there to compare yours to.

I'm pretty sure we have a couple on this board. Do you know if you are going DC, VA, or MD?

My fiance works at georgetown hospital and i'll be in the fall's church area so preferably somewhere close to georgetown. I have no problems commuting, especially if I can find a nice E90 M3 for myself by the time i move!

I'm not a real estate agent but one of my friends is looking for a place in DC/MD/VA so I can send some listings over to you. Were you looking for a house or an apartment?

Also take a look at Redfin.com. It's a local website like zillow.com or realtor.com. When I was looking, it had more recent and accurate information.

Suspension Install Cost and Shops DC Metro

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at doing a few upgrade on my 2007 335i coupe seeing as I've got about 90k on it now. I believe I've decided on the BMW Performance Suspension and M3 front control arms/tension struts. My goals are to reduce roll and improve cornering ability without too much reduction in ride height. I do use winter tires and have enough trouble at times with some parking garages and rough roads. I just need some advice on some local indys in the DC metro that don't charge an arm and a leg for this rather simple install.

I can perform the job myself as I'm handy enough with a wrench to be dangerous and I have a few contacts if I got stuck, but I am by no means an expert on suspensions for any miscellaneous parts that might need to be replaced once the job is started. Seeing as I'd have to do this on jacks stands and I don't have all of the time in the world. I think I'd rather have a professional perform the work.

Any advice on shops and what a reasonable cost to install would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
