Saw this car today just past the Bishop's Avenue, got all excited and beeped (as if you'd know who I am!?)...Was like seeing a celebrity! This car looks so good on the road.

I love your determination despite all the knocks along the way, seeing how she has ended up I can clearly see why too bro! She's stunning and looks awesome! Holds a real presence when at shows

new car yayay
so the story goes that I got a new job which was quite a drive away and I thought that maybe I could get a E46 330d and share it with my sister as a daily... I was looking for one that had reasonably low mileage and was fully loaded... a daily with good mpg, could last 10 years and would still have the creature comforts...
plan was I was gonna buy it, and me and her would split the cost of running... but after many hours searching - and even finding the perfect one in glasgow, my sister said 'i wont use it enough'... i was annoyed but i just carried on with life... then my mate (who you've probably seen me at shows with) called to let me know about a car on ebay... something I've probably been looking at for around 3 years but never had the balls to buy... something that I actually remember seeing when I was a kid and dreaming of owning one... we went down to check it out... and the body was in tatters - dings and scratches everywhere... apparently, the owner died and the family didn't want to move it out the garage... so it sat there for around 10 years, with tools and crap being put on top of it... the MOT report of the mileage agrees - 88k and it's 20 years old... in the last 10 years, it's done around 8k or something... mechanically, the car was strong, a slight weep from the diff but something that could be handled... anyways, this is her: she is a 1996 E36 M3 Evo Saloon in Techno Violet... literally my dream car... plan is to get her to factory freshness with a little bit of OEM+ modding... nothing like the E93 lol... but I don't want it to be boring so there will be a little bit of my personality in it... first few things: throttle pedal is a little stiff so i've got a new cable; there's only 1 key so i need to get that sorted and also program a FOB (bought one on ebay, just need to sync it); the rear lights are a little dim, looks like the contacts are corroded - at the same time i'll do a full lighting upgrade, slightly smoked indicators, 4.5k xenons and a clean.... the diff needs to be looked at, hopefully just seals to be replaced but who knows... the seats are disgusting lol, and white which i dont like - i saw a set of red sport seats which i was thinking about but they got sold before i could look at them... steering wheel refurb... a few suspension mods - bilstein b12s, xbrace, some new bushes... and then at the end, just widening the arches slightly (e36s always looked a little too skinny from the rear to me), refurb the throwing stars and put them on and a full proper respray with the original colour... all will be done over the years, there's no rush... i want to keep this for life

Ah the E36, do like these a lot especially the saloons rather than the cabs/coupe's for me Techno's a good strong colour too works well with a light interior which you've got but the downside of all that is the lighter interiors can show the wear a little more.
The S50's a lovely engine Achu, its got that nice mechanical feel to it if you follow me it isn't sanatised, you've got to work at it and its nice when stretched, driven a few Z3M's with the same engine they are soooo rewarding, surprisingly they respnd well to a re map they really do they seem to rev with more gusto and feel a little more alive as well, dare say we'll talk about it soon, but one thing to do is carry out regular oil changes, these overall are key they really are, if you do 3000 miles per year trust me change it every year that will help stave off top end issues like vanos growl for instance. But nice to see one of these cars with a bright future. Yours sincerly Kermit |

I've read this thread from beginning to end. One of my fav e93s. the 1m Bumper definitely sets off the car and your colour choices are on point! Did you ever ended up finding a good supplier for that techno violet wrap? I want to see more updates! Also looking forward to see what your doing with that e36. I get the feeling your going to restore her to tip top condition!

Awesome new car. Shame it's a saloon but hey it's the greatest BMW colour ever.
I loved my Techno Violet E36 especially after all the money that was spent on it. Wish I could have kept it. |

Always best to do mods that are reversible on classic cars. Just read though the whole post. What a journey. Enjoy your cars!! Last edited by Rialas; 12-01-2015 at 01:59 AM.. |
