Anyone really good (read: patient) with vinyl? I am thinking about buying some vinyl for my window trim, but have a feeling I will get frustrated too quickly to make it look good.

After the meet on Saturday, I've ordered a few small items to clean up the look of my car some more.
-Painted reflectors
-BMW Performance gloss black grilles
-CF license plate holder (gotta get rid of the dealership holder)

I am also planning to do a debadge shortly, if it ever stops raining.

Just noticed this thread, actually by way of the photo gallery section. I'm in Buffalo, NY. I've met some of the local guys and talked to AMASIAN on another site. I have an E90 335i with the basic bolt ons and meth. Gotta get my new clutch installed before I drive the car too much more, really noticed the slipping last week at the Dyno

I can do anything in the spreadsheet, and I was also able to add the alarm module $302 to my car successfully. So if you have a retrofit, I should be able to help out.
I have been reading up on coding a bit too. It's nice to know that someone Local knows how to do it I've been tossing around the idea of a few retrofit mods that need coding, so I might ask you for some pointers when I get to that point.

Welcome, Xander. What's your mod list? What wheels are those?

Those of you at the meet on Saturday saw how my rear window tint was messed up (bubbles, dot matrix looked like shit, a scratch here and there) - I dropped the car off at the Tint Shop today and they are fixing it for me. They said one guy did the side windows (which turned out fine) and another guy did the back window. Apparently he had a faulty carbon spray gun or something (not too familiar with the tinting process so I don't know what that means). But they are going to vinyl the dot matrix at the top down to the first defroster line; I went ahead and agreed to that since I have my doubts as to whether it would ever be right. The dot matrix is pretty extreme on BMWs, I can't think of a way around it besides sanding 'em off ... and I don't want to do that.

Guy at the Tint Shop said he had two other customers come in who had their cars done the same time as mine with the same complaints.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Apparently it is going to take like 5 hours to get it done. No charge for it, of course.

Edit: I got the car back. It's not 100%. Much better than before (no scratches or bubbles) and the vinyl at the top is done pretty well. Still some areas around the edges where the dot matrix isn't filled in; I think I should be able to get it out myself however. They said they had to do it 4 times to get it where it is now.
So, needless to say if you need your E92 tinted I can't recommend them. Nice and all, and they did a good job on my side windows, but the rear is not to the same level. Doesn't look bad but it's not perfect or close to it. :-\ I've seen a few guys on this forum spend over $500 or more on a tint, which is a lot than I paid but theirs are obviously done 100% perfect. Gotta pay to play I suppose.

Props, that's one hell of a list. Your car is badass.

I want to get my calipers painted at some point, they are pretty ugly stock.

M sport short shift knob + SSK is great, I have it and would not want it any other way.

@ Caliper painting, definitely do it right with that I think it's called G2 brush on paint. I've done both that and the spray stuff, and the brushed on looks 100x better, especially over time.

Nice list X, how long have you had those wheels, and how are they holding up? I just bought my 08 Xi with them a couple months ago, and I'm wondering if they're just inexpensive wheels that get beaten up easily, or if the guy who owned the car before me reallly abused them.

X That is way nice, a ton of mods!

So A while back I posted about my e90 with the new shoes.....Well I finally took my lunch break and cleaned it up. Since it seems to do nothing but rain lately I figured I would take some pics (with my phone) and I thought I would post them. Let me know what you guys think....I wasn't sure when I first put them on but they really grew on me. It's been just over a week (I think)...

Thanks
-Joe

Hello guys,
I'm back from my cruise!
I took a look at the pictures of the meet. Looks like it was successful and the cars look nice.
Can't wait till the next one. I'll be sure to make it.
How did the weather hold up? Looks a little wet but not a total washout?
Any word on the next meet by any chance?

It was pretty awesome, first time I've been there. I think I saw you walking out, shame I didn't catch you sitting down otherwise I'd have had a chat!

I'm back in Philadelphia now ... weather sucks here, I guess I brought it with me.

Can't wait to see it, Nick.

Hey guys - I installed painted reflectors and BMW Performance glossy black grilles since the meet, check it out:

Reflectors were a real bitch, but I would definitely do it again.

The black grilles have eliminated the chrome on the front. The car's exterior looks more consistent now, just black and blue.

Next step is to get a black license plate holder; right now mine is the dealer holder which has a silver/chrome finish. I am also thinking about a debadge.

Your car looked great with them and the painted reflectors, that pretty much sold me on them.

It is quite strange that BMW sends Shadowline-equipped cars with chrome grilles ... seems like an oversight! Very inconsistent.

I think I'm going to do the debadge, it would make the rear look a lot cleaner ...

Agree! It is strange, but the car looks good!. I also plan I getting new kidney grilles but I'm not sure whether to get matte black or glossy. What do you guys think would look best on Sparkling Graphite?
