All speculation from someone who currently does not own an N54 platform car. Sure you always hear about the cars that have failures but people who dont have them dont go ranting about how well their cars run. Even if the issues you laid out above are valid (hpfp, turbo, injectors), these are all covered by bmw at no cost to you if you actually made a sound investment and got a car with warranty or CPO. Higher cost to purchase? Not really. I bout my car CPO with 40K miles for $24K. Maintenance? My oil changes, brake jobs, alignment, tires, etc are all pretty much the same price as yours.

Now about useful? Does your car do more than mine? Can it make me a sandwich? Will it walk my dog? or do tricks?? Or does it just drive up and down the street and fly around turns?

So To OP - if you want twin turbo, save yourself ALOT of money, stress, and bs and WAYYYY more problems than hpfp and injectors - GET A 335. This way at least if You DO happen to have problems - they will be covered by BMW. When you turbo your N52 say byebye to the dealer kissing your ass for every problem like they do mine.

Good points but at 40k miles I really hope you got the extended warranty if you want to keep your car. Personally I say fuck it, I wait one more year and get a 335is. There will be a nice price drop once the F series comes out next year.

my car is CPO. Didnt see any value in paying $2k for the extended warranties. If anything major happens they'll cover it. As far as maintenance goes well i think i can manage oil cahnges and brake jobs and all that minor crap.

You're proving my point.
1. A car IS NOT any kind of investment. Its a consumable. Do you expect your car to crap a newer, better, more valuable one when the CPO or other warranty runs out. No. You use it up, then its gone, forever.
2. No, my car doens't make a sandwich, or do tricks, but then...niether does yours. And I get better fuel economy while we both go sans-sandwich.

So, ya, stand by it. LESS useful, it costs more for the exact same uses...hence, wow, less useful.

@ OP

if I said I could make an old 325i (still N/A) powerful enough to beat a stock 335i in a 1/4 mile drag race, would you still want a twin turbo/335i?

ALL MOTOR FTW!

listen if you want to go fast just keep the comfy, good mileage, sexy, great looking, 325i. then buy a high mileage 1998 stock ls1 powered car for around 6K and destroy any 335 you could come across.

granted that im bias but this summer is going to deside weather or not i keep my trans am or sell it and my 328xi for a 335xi in a stick lol
