My driver side catches 10 out of 10, passenger side misses 999 out of 1000.. Since day one.

The one time passenger side actually grabbed was when I checked it with the service guy after they fixed it.

I've had me CPO e92 for a little less than a year now and umm they were both working fine when I first got the car.

Now the driver side NEVER catches the belt and the passenger side is about 90% of the time I'd say.

Pointless inevitably broken addition I must say.

Funny thing is, I really like them - when they work! It's something that new passengers always comment on, but I'm there thinking, "Please work! Please work!" Kinda like my HPFP... lol

Grab a .99 cent can of laundry starch from the supermarket and iron the seatbelt at the point where the butler comes in contact with it. It'll take you 30 seconds and you won't be putting superglue on your seatbelt. Downside...having to explain to your wife why you're taking the ironing board out to the garage.

this happened on my old e92

omfg most annoying thing. i got the bottom of the belt (where it meets the floor) in the perfect spot and put a zip tie around it so it wouldn't move and it worked most of the time

There is a thread with this brilliant DIY solution somewhere.
In any case, the best solution!

I wanted the dealer to just turn it off but they said they weren't allowed to by law since it's integrated with the entire restraint system or something of the sort.

this is good! I may have to try this

was also thinking of wrapping the area once with packaging tape to stiffen it up a bit and would be hardly noticeable

Do you happen to remember the fuse number? I'm assuming nothing else was affected, correct?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I have an 2008 E92 Coupe and mines is fuse #30. I looked at the DIY below and his is #25. I guess best thing to do is refer to the fuse card in your glove.

I've had no problems or errors at all after pulling the fuse. Been driving without the arms for over 8 months now.

Had this flaky little "innovation" on my E92 328 coupe.
I do not have it on my 2011 E93 vert.
Can't say I miss those little pieces of shit...replaced both 3 times under warranty and they STILL worked 50% of the time.
This item's design blueprints is probably hanging on some wall of shame on some engineering team's wall in Munich. If it isn't, it needs to be.

This is brutal that it needs to be fixed! It supposed to be "simple" logic, yet they will need to fix it imagine with no warranty you will need to pay $XXXX!

My driver side lately for the past 3 months has been about 20% working! Passenger side is about 70%.

I was really thinking of putting something just dont know what yet.
