330d gone, S5 cab the new motor
This is the spiritual successor to my 335i that got written off last Autumn when someone crashed into it when it was parked. Whilst that was sorted out I ran a 330d that I bought from TMP who was selling at the right time for me.
So, after 14 years of BMW ownership no longer is there one in the household, I give you the Audi S5 Cab which I’ve now had for 2 weeks and 1200 miles. I test drove an IS-F, 911C2S and a E90M3 with a budget of mid £20k’s in mind. Ultimately it came down to having something nice but with a good dose of practicality. [Wife and 2 kids] The car I’ve got in a 2010/10 one owner example with extras’ including a B&O sound system, Heated seats, HDD nav and a towbar!. Its great to be back in a petrol, especially liking the sound (although not as good as the 335i), loving the S-tronic 7 speed box, and love the fact the boot is large enough to get golf clubs and trolley in with the roof down. And the stereo is ace. And its got folding rear seats. Without saying how exactly how much I paid, it was almost certainly the cheapest in the UK – there isn’t one on Autotrader any cheaper for example. And it was from an Audi dealer – warrantied up and presented like new. Mpg is not its strong point, although I am enjoying myself, averaging just 21mpg so far, squeezing just 300 miles for a tank. With the roof down and deflector up, cruising at 80 on the motorway is a a breeze, and with the roof up, it genuinely is quieter than the e92 used to be. Handling wise – you can tell its 1.9tons, but with 4wd and 333bhp it still goes well. Not quite 335i fast but not far off. Frankly it feels hewn from rock. Very solid. I’ve also just had a towbar mounted 4 bike carrier delivered to make the most of the tow bar and the great outdoors So I wont be posting on here as much as I used to, and no idea how long I’ll keep it, but I’m sure going to get the roof down as much as possible and give it the beans whenever I can. … |

Very nice car, I made the opposite move to you, from an Audi A4 cabriolet to a 330d. A good forum i used when I had the Audi was audisport.net, I don't know what it's like these days, but it was goods couple of years back.
Hope you enjoy your car |

You got a nice motor. Hope you enjoy it
You got the same sort of spec as me on my audi s4 59plate, I loved the sound system it's better then what I have in my e90. I have the mmi 3G nav in mines it was rubbish I think. I sold my audi s4 2 weeks ago, won't miss it much, other then the looks and few other bits and bobs. If you decide to join a audi forum, join audisport.net the guys on there are awesome just like the guys on here

Thanks for all the (mainly) positive comments guys.
Have said hello on audi sport but it is clearly nowhere near as popular as this site, and dare i say most of what I have read seems to be "Audi are the best - nothing else is close", where here you get a good appreciation of other marques strengths and weaknesses. |

Exactly.
Whereas here we're completely unbiased and say BMW are the best - nothing else is close (and the occasional Datsun)

Cant see me tweaking the engine tbh, its quick enough, although if anyone on here has checked out pistonheads - there is a recent vid of how a modest Revo tweak allows an S4 with the same engine as mine to keep up with the new RS4 all the way up to 160mph+ |

There's not much point me going over what I said to you elsewhere here, but I think this car has a fantastic engine and gearbox. I love that combo as much as I love my own N54/DCT pairing.
If the 3.0 had been available in coupe form when I bought my E92 then chances are I would have been in one. As it is, the coupes were all too much at the time of buying! I think it's a good car, a nice colour and if the spec was right then good times. I've noticed some 'random mega deals' on the TTRS from Audi dealers too. Perhaps when they need a quick deal, they move on a top end motor as par for the course. I can't reccomend REVO enough from a tuning point of view. If you need an introduction at the place I used down in Sheffield (think Darren Wood but for VAG/Porsche) then let me know. REVO are bad at after sales, but this Indy is great and the product is so good you'll not likely need it. Matt |

Owned 2 Audi TTs
At least my daughter did. Switched to Mercedes to take advantage of their spectacular SLK offers.
The Audi's were lovely cars, plagued by minor sensor problems (emissions, air bags, etc). The dealer on the other hand always managed to turn even minor problems into major disputes e.g engine making chug, chug, chug noises. Dropped car off (under warranty)...wouldn't touch it until I signed for 3 hours diagnostic work. Diagnostic came up with timing belt (at 38,000 miles). Cast doubt on warranty because timing belt is 'consumable' (with 75,000 service interval). Long discussion....sign for further investigation....find its the timing belt tensioner which has seized.... 2 more days waiting for parts and to see if Audi covered this on warranty. They did. Needed to charge battery....called Audi to see if it must be disconnected....refused to give me advice, sent me to Audi 'pay per visit' website. Made my mind up never to buy another Audi because almost every workshop visit and interaction goes the same way. On the other hand, BMW get my X5 for MOT 1 week before end of warranty....find broken coil spring....replaced under warranty. Also book car into paint shop to remediate 'peppering' behind rear doors.....give me a brand new X1 while its in the shop. Arrange test drive of M135i.....they book an M135i and a 335i so I can compare MT with AT. No brochure in stock.....sales guy hand delivers one to my house 2 days later. Order car....sales guy phones before final build to check config, discuss RFTs vs non-RFTs etc. Trade in car, sales guy helps sell my winter wheels. So wish you well and lots of fun with your Audi and hope your local dealer is better than mine |

Del, Summer was here on Sunday, lots of lovely top-down motoring, but think Autumn has just kicked in
Was fun whilst it lasted!
