I was going to go with generals.

I have a custom offset and you know how some companies will not release offset info, so I am not sure. In terms of side wall height, the front are a squeeze smaller than the rear. The rim protection is much more substantial on my 275 though from others I have seen with 265. FYI, I am on a 19x10.

On a turned wheel and driving over an incline I do rub in the inner fender well in the front on a 235. Insignificant, but still informational.

Question: when you guys talk about tires sizes like for example: 265/30/19 What does that 30 stand for? offset?

Aspect ratio. Meaning the sidewall is 30% of the tire width.

I went to wiki and found the same answer, so you mean 30 would have a smaller side wall of 35 right? since it's 30% vs 35% I would have a thiner tire on wheels.

Yes as long as the diamter is equal front to rear or at least very close. You can order staggered wheel/tires from BMW - that is how it is delivered when you order 18's with the sport package.

As far as aesthetics's go, you won't be able to tell the difference between overall diameters and sidewall heights between 275s and 265s. The difference between the two side wall heights is less than 5 hundredths of an inch.

A 235/275 will induce more understeer to a degree, but it's not something I think you should worry about. If you're a responsible and safe driver, you probably won't run into situations where you'll have to worry if your tire choice meant your safety .

I think the understeer will only be apparent under the most extreme driving conditions, ie at the track.

Are there any brand recommendations for tires for these sizes? My local tire shop has recommended Toyo Proxes T1R tires. Thanks, guys!
I'm about to order the same setup! I was on the fence about going to the 275 setup with the 40offset....still am actually. I wish someone had pics with different setups so we could compare them.

Here's a 275/30-19 on an et40 wheel & Falken FK452 tire (no rubbing lowered on H&R sport springs):
