SP Lowering Perches [Supreme Power mini review]

Fast shipping, great prices.
The box arrived today and I immediately got to installing.

Mine came with two of these giant washers that I had no idea what to do with. I skipped them and re-installed everything that was from the old perch.

Comparing the old and the new. SP's are HUGE and has more heft than stock.

Video of uh.. a comparison between stock and SP, so you get some idea of the heft I guess.

Overlay of stock on SP

Installed

Best Before pic I have at the moment

After

I'm thinking because I had the car up for a minute the Springs need resettling. When I did the "finger test", I fit a whole Shocker in there where before I could only fit two

Car actually sat higher for a sec. I'm gonna give it a day or so to settle back to stock and see the results. Install by myself and no power tools took 4 hours.

Just thought I'd throw together a lil "This is what you get." I have Eibach's on the way, so I guess I should have been patient. But I figured I'd let the crowd see what this does for a Stock car on sports suspension. Will give an end of the the week update.

Looks good but the extra "heft" is bad.

So far no, because they aren't built for Xi's. I don't know what the strut setup for an XI looks like, but I'm sure someone can figure a way to finagle one.

The day after:

It settled nicely.Though it emphasizes how high my stock rear is. I'll leave it this way for now.

Mine didn't come with those washers.. and I wouldn't know where to use them either. Maybe SP can explain?

So since you lowered it a little does it now mean you have to get an alignment?

No alignment needed. All it does is move the strut housing up .5inch.

There's really nothing to settle as you are not changing the spring. Just moving the position of the assembly.

So then how come you said your car was higher than before after installing them?

The springs don't need to settle any further than they already are before installation. The purpose of the lowering perches is to basically shave off 1/4 of material that is taking space between the strut/spring assembly and the housing.

Gaze upon my Picasso esque awesomely crude illustration:

As you see, the springs remain the same, just the piece at the top looses some of it's fat so the car sits closer to the spring assembly. Therefore lowering without shorter springs.

(Emphasis mine.)

That was a really good illustration actually. Artistic!

But, I'm confused because you don't seem to be addressing his question. He's asking about additional settling after the install, and you're saying that the springs don't need to settle past where they were before the install?? What?

What exactly is your theory on spring settling?

Did you tighten the suspension bolts before lowering the car to the ground?

Thanks for the explanation, but in your review you said after the install it was higher than before the install. Is that really the case? That's all I'd like to know.

Springs do need to settle in to the new perch. I guess OP meant the new springs if installed, need to settle in before reaching final compression rate. The perch will be set after driving for a day or so. It's like if you lift your car, the car will sit little higher and settle.

Yes Exactly.
Sorry I didn't get his question the 1st time.

If you say so... but it's not what I observe. I had the SP lowering perch installed too, on brand new OE springs. Any settling that has occurred since driving back is 1/16" or less, which is within measuring error. It's been a few weeks now.

In Illlojik's pictures I see almost 1" of drop in the first 24 hours.

Are you guys tightening control arm bolts before resting the car back on the ground?
