I agree.

I would be inclined towards powdercoating them in a flat silver to avoid such a fate.

Removing the white corrosion in the lacquer is quite easy just needs patience. .im currently refurbing a set of M355 alloys that have either kerb marks or corrosion on them..same as the 313's these are diamond turned and then lacquered, I've rubbed away the lacquer and sanded out the kerb marks with 80 grit then polished by hand upto 1200 grit and then I've rattle can sprayed with lacquer and honestly there good as new...

I've even done a spoke on one that had two bad surface chips, it just patience and practice but you can save yaself a hell of a lot of cash..I got mine cheap due to kerb marks and have now added easily £100 to there value for a tenner...

I'll admit I've done a few sets now but if you make a hash you can just resand and try again...

No spraying or paint involved whatsoever. Just sanded all the lacquer off the polished faces then polished them up. The polished faces are all now just bare alloy. I give them a polish up every few washes and have had no trouble with corrosion as yet. My car is washed at least once a week. By the way the first picture is one I have sanded but not yet polished next to how they all looked before I started. I had next to no kerbing on them but took a small file to any that there was.

The biggest problem with un lacquered polished alloys is keeping on top of them and really you need a hand held rotary polisher..

Hard to tell from the pics - is it just the angle or do they have more of a flat finish than polished?

Check the stamps on the back of the wheels, that's the definite way. Visually, reps are not that concave - especially on the rear

If they are reps, they are very good reps. Look like oem to me with that much concavity.
