The last 10 years have been a hell of a party, but based mainly on borrowed money. Now it's time to pay it back and that could take just as long.

btw John Major was on the bbc this morning, was intresting to hear what he was saying, when asked about unemployment he said the rules for calculating it have been changed so much since 1997 that comparisons are pointless, so many people been moved onto disabilty allowance etc. He said at the end Brown received more praise than he was due when things were going well and will now receive more blaim than he is due for it all going wrong.

Anyways, polictics can be a firey subject, you make some good points in your post too, what is likely to happen is another 2 years of brown, then as things start to get better the tory's will get in and Osbourne will take all the credit for our "recovery" for the 5 years after that
Whatever happens we will not have 2 more years of Brown. Since he has no electoral mandate the Tories will be baying for his blood if he does not call an 09 election.

He would face justifiable accusations of cowardice and his own party will panic and oust him within the next 12 months.

David Milliband will be the leader for the next election and may even win. At the moment he is quietly biding his time waiting for someone else to be the bad guy and depose Brown so that he can step in as the good guy.

There is no way that Brown will fight an election as leader, because his own party have already reached the conclusion that he is a millstone around their neck.

When it comes to pass remember that I predicted it all ...

Muha ha ha ahah .. (evil laugh etc..)

I have always voted labour. I saw my mothers and fathers(RIP) business fall apart through the thatcher years and as a consiquence voted for labour.

Now because i have prospered in the last ten years, Have i done this this because of labour? no.....would have i done the same under the torys? yes

IMO 'normal' people have prospered in the last ten years cause of cheap credit and the house boom, entrepenuers prospers because they do, regardless of who is in charge, because it just sends you down another path...

my last vote was an independent vote who was against toll charging in Manchester.

i think ill abstane the next time because it seems to me that its either continue to vote for labour or choose cameron, and i'm sorry but he is a spinless tit, so no vote from me...

As I've said elsewhere, I don't support any particular party and although some of the people that think they know me would accuse me of having right wing and capitalist views, that would be a dramatic over simplification of the facts...and in any case I hate being pigeon-holed!!

Whilst it's true that I have voted conservative most of the time, the greater truth is that in twenty years I have never found a political party or candidate that I could wholeheartedly support. The cross in the box has usually fallen to whichever local candidate seemed to talk more sense and was less loathsome than the others: Which is not much of an endorsement for any of the parties!

Whatever the colour of rosette, the person that would get my vote at the moment would have to work miracles; to restore balance to the economy, remove bureaucracy & red tape, bring back social responsibility and respect for human life, rationalise the tax system, apply common sense to the legislation, instill fear in the hearts of real criminals and make Britain a generally safer, happier and more prosperous place to live.

As there seems little prospect of finding any of those qualities in the current crop of contenders, I suspect my next vote will once again follow the 'Pin the tail on the Donkey' method of choice.
