My new mods....

....Along with my oettinger map, and MTM's I have held back with the S3, as its just a little pocket rocket, well that was until last week. I just added this.......

A full turbo back Milltek, and also a Carbon Speed Cold air intake - sorry no pics of this.

Im getting it on the rollers in a few weeks, but there's a guy over on another forum, with the same mods, and his is putting out 335BHP/345ftlb.

On the road it is awesomely fast and responsive, the free flowing exhaust has made a lot of difference - A mod I would highly recommend

Yeah, holding off on the RS4 at the moment, as they seem to be in a bit of freefall!! Audi are bringing a DSG Sportback S3 out in January, and that might just tick all the boxes for me

Is that with the same map. I mean, I know it's likely to be a stage II map, but is it an Oettinger map?

Looking god Oli, looking good mate!!

You're right about RS4's taking a tumble, a customer of mine tried to trade his in the other day and was offered £26k for it! nearly 3 years old but only 35k miles on it. They were offering £28k balloons after 60 months on them back on release.

I'll give him 26k for it, at that price its a bargain. In a years time the price will have levelled on the RS4, and it'll be a good time to buy.

Ive got one coming in this week , 07/07 Avant 5k on it fully loaded, we're going to be asking £47995(we are selling this car on SOR so no risk), which seems strong, but the avants are holding their value a lot better than the saloons.

When I was looking a couple of months ago the cheapest one's, retail, were mid 30's, you can now get them for low 30's!!!!

Yeah his is a saloon, and with the horrible orange indicator bulbs too!

He got someone else to offer him just over £30k for it elsewhere, but just shows that some dealers just don't want them at the moment, same with M3's etc.

On my trade system at work there are currently 20 on offer - lots of choice - I will own one but not just yet, i think there will be a lot of repossessions this years for this type of car due to the new tax laws and high fuel prices, that are just blowing cars residuals.

Sounds fun on a powerful modern car

Is the Audi Quattro system actually biased to the rear too? Or have I got that wrong?!

I rather like the new Audi interiors and that S3 looks lovely, though I've never been a fan of the A3, screams boremobile but that S3 in white is

Not at all, remember it only weighs around 1450kgs or so, it feels faster than my 335, and more fun at getting there And remember the S3 isn't quattro, its a haldex based system, so only puts the power to the rear when needed

Very intresting but "only" and 1450kg cannot surely go together can they?! That is a heavy car, to me anyway!!

I don't know hardly anything about modern Audis, so now they don't have that Quattro badge on the back no more I always liked that my mum used to be well into her Audis, had an UR Quattro which is an awesome car and a coupe Quattro.

By the fact that the new Audis only put power to the rear when needed, can I take from that it feels like a RWD car? Or have I got this totally wrong?!

1450 might seem quite a lot but to look at it another way it makes it only about 70 kilos heavier than a CSL and around 200 kilos lighter than a 335d or E90 M3.

If its only RWD when needed then No, it wont feel like a RWD car it`ll feel like a FWD car most of the time.

Can't believe how much modern cars weigh (all of them apart from Caterhams and the like)! My car weighs only 700kg, I count 1000 - 1250kg what maximum weight I would like a car to be and anything above that as heavy!

Why cars are so heavy has got to be to do with all these toys and safety features which is why modern cars need to have much more bhp and top speed to make them as fun Which fair enough BMW and Audi in the case of the S3 etc. have managed to achieve.

Thanks for the 4WD system explaination

Perfect explanation. The E46 M3 weighs 1570kg, and like Mike says the CSL version weighs nearly 200kgs lighter!!! The new E92 M3 weighs in at a massive 1655kg's - All cars are a lot heavier these days!
