car getting repainted

Hey guys, my car was keyed a couple weeks ago. The entire car is getting repainted under insurance. Right nw the car is black, but I have always wanted a AW e92. I dont plan on keep the car forever so i was wondering if repainting the car another color will ruin the resale?

Car is getting repainted by BMW too.

As far as I know BMW doesn't do any painting work. I had to repaint the roof due to exploded sunroof's glass and bmw dealership recommended me other shops to do the work.

Shouldn't affect resale value. It is something people check for but that's more related to frame damage cover up afaik. Just keep the paperwork Also AW all the way especially if you live in warmer areas.

Whoever ends up doing it, you might want to make sure that they can repaint the inside frame as well. It just wouldn't look too good if you had a AW exterior, and when you opend the doors/trunk/hood it's all black.

It's a terrible idea and I'd be shocked if insurance would pay for it. I'd bet the cost goes up at least 50% to go from black to white. Just because they are respraying the car because it was keyed doesn't mean they planned on disassembling it - which is pretty much what you have to do to do it right. Take a good look at your car now - every place that's black will have to be prepped and repainted -hinges, jams, sills, engine bay area, etc.

Even if you did get them to do it, if you are at all picky you'll never be happy.

Changing the color on the car will affect resale value, especially one that is the polar opposite. Because no matter how legitimate the repaint may be, people will always question it, and the lowball offers will start to roll out.

As what others have stated, the only way to do it right is to strip the car completely and re-shoot everything. Both black and white are easy colors to sell, as they're fairly popular. I would say get it repainted with the same color, then sell it. Take pictures of the damages, so that you have proof when the buyer asks why it was repainted. I know I would want to see proof.
