The wheel sizes he's mentioned already are bigger and wider than stock.. so, eh. Whatever. Good luck with your search, OP, I'm sure you'll settle with something awesome

... Who gets stock-sized aftermarket wheels and tires anyway?

Soon I will be adding black lower grills and a black aero lip.

I would say boring. Just my personal opinion no offense. I think that black wheels are kinda played out. Def gives the impression of a younger persons car. If I was gonna spend the money on a nice set of wheels, I would want them to "pop" not blend into one big black blah...for lack of a better word. I do like the grill and refelctor idea. Some window tint, Definitly NOT anything with the taillights. Sometimes less is more.

Here's my car..2011 335i 19x 8.5 and 19x10 , and my old 2009 328xdrive 19x9.5 and 19x10 both stock suspension

+1 black wheels give the appearance of a younger person. As a Dir I would stay with silver or hyper silver. I went with VMR V701s hyper silver. I'm not going to tint either since my 135 already looks like a younger persons car, at least according to my wife.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. Gun metal looks nice. Its down to gun metal, hyper black, or diamond cut black. Either Apex Arc-8 or Alufelgen SF-71 (19").

Where did you guys have your wheels installed? Dealership or tire shop, like Firestone?

Tire shop for me. You're probally gonna wanna research spacers too. If you are gonna get wheels, might as well go all out for the extra hundred or so. Dont make the same mistake I did by jumping the gun on wheels without doing a ton of research in reguards to wheel size, and especially offsets. Look at picts on here to see exactly what you think looks good. Then find out Diameter, wheel widths, and offset. For instance. my current wheel set up is VMR VB3 Gunmetal 19x8.5 front et (offset) 40, and 19x10 et 38 rear. Tire size 235 35 19 front, 265 30 19 rear. I have a 12.5 spacer for the front and 10mm spacer on the back. Stock suspension, non x drive car. Those are pretty much the vital stats you need to know.

The 328 picts shown have a 19x9.5 front wheel. et33

Here is the setup I am considering...

Wheel specs: 19x8.5 et35 front, 19x9.5 et35 rear. Tires: 235/35/19 front, 265/30/19 rear.

I haven't decided on a tire yet. I live in Chicago so my options are to roll with a good set of all seasons like Conti ExtremeContact DWS or General GMAX AS-03. Option 2 is roll will dedicated summer tires like Pilot Super Sport or Conti ExtremeContact DW. I've been reading reviews on Tirerack for days. I know the PSS are the best but they are expensive and I'm not racing my 335xi. I have OEM 17" with Conti ContiProContact SSR run flats that I can use in the winter if need be. They are brand new tires, and although they are not the best winter tires, with AWD I think I'll be ok if I go that route.

If anyone has any suggestions, by all means feel free to share. Before I place my order I want to feel confident I have the best setup.

As long as you do your job properly and act professional, it doesn't matter what color your car is. I'm also an IT Director and my car is pretty much black on black (minus the tail lights, left that red).

Why don't you just plastidip all the pieces that you're unsure off black and see if that's a bit too much for you. Rip it off if you do not like the way it looks.

Wheels will fit very well, not necessarily flush, but they'll look a lot better than your stockers - you can mess with spacers later on when you've got the wheels. In regards to tires, IMO you can't go wrong with Conti DWS. A 335xi with all-seasons is great all year round.

I'd say black out everything but the tails. I HATE when people tint their tailliights - or headlights for that matter - it NEVER looks right.

Instead get blackline taillights! much cleaner look... and if you must, get black housing headlights.

all black is not too ghetto... I work in a professional business and have a jet black sedan with tint and black with polished lip wheels.. "some" may call it ghetto, to me it is very clean looking.

I really like the look. I have shadowline trim, chrome grille - might go black, tint, and black wheels w/ polished lip... think it looks pretty good.

Talking

I wanted to update this thread now that I finally have my new wheels/tires installed.

I decided to go with Alufelgen SF-71s (FRONT Wheel: 19x8.5 ET35 Tire: 235/35/19 - REAR Wheel: 19x9.5 ET35 Tire:265/30/19) in Hyperblack. I need to take some more pics once I clean up the tires... they still have that new tire dingy look. I purchased the wheels/tires from ModBargins.com and was very happy with the service. Now that I have the new shoes I am very motivated to add more mods.

Before pics...

After pics...

Love the mags & the color. Now you need the M bumpers & performance diffuser.
I have a black sapphire metallic, I never liked the blacked out look & I HATE matte black...
BUT I decided to plastidip my grills just to see & I absolutely love it. It totally transformed the front, makes it look a lot more aggressive & it is reversible.
Give it a go, if you hate it you can remove the plastidip.

Ya, black kidney grills is on the top of my list of upcoming mods. I also want to black out the orange reflectors up front.

Good Call

I went with the murdered look, it lasted a few weeks, no contrast or pop. My runner up was the SF71 in hyper black, real good look , says it all. but ultimately waited for the new APEX EC-7 ....lightweight but only 18" available. Running those with the DWS staggered. Get them Friday... most likely in the garage Saturday morning.
