Belt tensioner and airbag error
As the title says I now have a new error on my dash. I'm just wondering how many others have experienced this? and if there are any quick fixes or do I need to bring it in to my dealer? Thanks

The airbag/seatbelt light/iDrive warning is a fairly generic message, it just means something is wrong with the MRS system, could be seatbelt, could be airbag, could be the Battery Safety Terminal in the trunk.
Best bet would be to get the exact code read from the car and then we can tell you what's wrong. You'll need a code reader that supports BMW specific codes as it's won't be a generic OBDII error. You can use INPA (with a USB cable, check the BMW coding posts for more information) or find a shop with an Autologic or a Bavarian Technic cable (you could buy one yourself as well). If you plan to do your own diagnostics and repairs, buying the USB cable for INPA or Bavarian Technic will save you time and money in the long run. |

The most common problem is the seat mat sensor....it cracks and will throw those errors.
If you have an 06 with sport seats, you'll be covered under a recall. If not, it will be covered under CPO, with the deductible. I had mine covered under CPO. |
