e90 Pre LCI rear lights
Anyone know if these will be a straight swap on my 2008 330i e90?
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/130704844632 Do these 3rd party parts usually fit OK? I've heard they can sometimes throw errors. Thx |

Thanks guys. I just got an email from the seller saying the LEDs are included but not the bulbs. That's fine of course but from the pictures are the bulb holders missing? Do I need to transfer them over from the old lights or something?
Am probably going to buy them anyway but just unsure about what exactly needs to be done to fit them. Will post pics and feedback when I'm done! |

You'll need to use your own bulb holders on these

Sorry for the delay! I actually received and installed the lights on Tuesday (so delivery was pretty quick) but haven't had time to do a write up. I'm very happy with them, although when you look closely you will find some imperfections (will upload closeups later). Installation was fairly painless but not quite as simple as pulling the old and sticking in the new; There are two black boxes per side which I believe are anti-flicker resistor / capacitor type things which are quite bulky and one needs to be secured via 3M tape (included) and the other fastened with one of the 3 nuts used to hold the light unit in place. Only the brake and indicator lights are replaced by LEDs so your existing bulbs must be used for the others (reverse, sidelights, fog). You need to use your existing bulb holders which are very simple to remove from the old units and clip into the new ones. Initially I thought the inner brake LEDs were broken (there are 2 sets of LEDS for the brakes to replace the 2 bulbs on each side) but discovered that on the E90 the outer brake lights activate under gentle braking and only during heavy braking do the inner lights. I'll upload some pics when I get a chance (I'm at work now). |

Here are the closeups. The imperfections I mentioned refer to the ragged edge of the sealant / adhesive used to attach the lens to the shell. Pretty ugly but not noticeable from any practical distance.
Some shots of the indicator LEDs too. Apologies for the dusty rear end. It is about to be washed honest! |
