@e90Luis, I went to BMW of Fort Lauderdale on Monday to make an appointment for the Power Kit Stage 1 install. The price quoted to me was $718 + tax. That includes the labor. They had to order a part for the install, so hopefully, they will call me today or tomorrow for the install. They will provide a loaner too.

Thanks! That is an awesome price. I'm going to give them a call and schedule an appointment for myself.

i took my car in to dealer on Monday. after two days, they still couldn't do the sw update on my car because my original sw is too old (2008). Resolution is BMW is going to send them a new unit which has the PPK installed to swap out with my old unit. It takes 5 days to receive the unit. Hopefully i'll have it done sometimes next week.

wow, I'm guessing you've never had any reliability issues because you've somehow never had your software updated, if so congrats on having a lucky N54!

I would just call other dealers in your area, must be lots in so cal right? we have a just a few dealers here in Atlanta. the one close to me quoted me $930 with 2+ hrs of labor and no BMWCCA discount. one farther away quote me $720 with 1 hr labor max even if it does take longer, and a 10% discount for BMWCCA membership
Which dealers quoted which prices? Just curious.

I was really excited about the ppk, but labor really kills it. So the questiin is why not go for dinan s2 at double the price? 15% offoff this monthand of oct. Your already spending about 1kto for something u will use everyday.

just drove back to my office after getting the power kit installed. My first impressions are that I definitely feel the added torque at the low end and turbo lag is virtually eliminated. Getting onto the highway, I felt a real difference in the quickness of accelerating from 30 mph to 85. really happy with the upgrade, especially at a good price from my dealer ($710 parts/labor/tax)
Is your car manual or automatic?

For those of you that want to order from http://www.shopbmwusa.com this is what you get in the mail. One white envelope from BMW Group with a sticker label "1 Satz / kit 11 12 2 219 489". Inside you get the following:

Part no:
2160474 STICK-ON LABEL
2160475 STICK-ON LABEL
2160476 STICK-ON LABEL
2166256 ENVELOPE
2219340 INSTALLING INSTRUCTION
BRIEFKUVERT INSTALLING INSTRUCTION

But the most important document is the one that includes the "Serienummer" and Key this is what the dealer will use when they log in to "After Sales Assistance Portal", locate the "Tuning Kit FSC" page and request to download the "Release Code".

You will still need to shop around and have a Dealer do the installation. I went with South County BMW in El Cajon. Overall the car feels strong... all m-sport's should come with the PPK in the first place...

I installed my kit 1 last week for a little over $700 total. The car feels stronger/more responsive.

The dealer chanrged me for 1h labor but said it takes longer.

Older DMEs need to be upgraded:
"The BMW Performance Power Kit is only applicable to vehicles equipped with option code 840 (high speed limiter). Vehicles with the MSD80 DME (normally produced prior to 03/2008) also require a new engine control module. The necessary replacement DME (MSD81) is included in this kit. Please confirm which DME is in the vehicle before ordering. Vehicles produced before 03/2007 will also require an Auxiliary Power Cable, PN 11 12 2 163 614."

Note this is for v2 of the kit, that includes the aux water cooler and larger fan. Interestingly, if you read closely, v1 says it requires option code S840, while v2 requires option code 840. I think this is actually a real difference, sicne when they ran the VIN of my car, v2 of the kit appeared as a valid option, but v1 did not.

About badges/grills: they said that the PPK v1 is the software and a plate to go under your hood. v2 adds the aux water cooler and a larger fan. The "BMW Performance Edition" rear badge and black grills come with the Performance Edition option - I'm not sure this can be added retroactively, but it's definitely different than v1 and v2 of the PPK.

Yes it does come with a badge that is placed outside the car. I asked they not place it anywhere. I'm not sure I want the badge on the car or not. I placed it a few places and am still not sure where or if I want it.

The "badge" is not placed on the OUTSIDE of the car. It's is placed under the hood. Either on the valve cover or just in front of the the air scoops.

Just made an appointment to have mine installed next week on Tuesday.
I asked my SA if dealership could give me a good price since I purchased my car from them and I was quoted 687 + tax.

I'll report back next week after the install is done

Just to clearify, it seems that there is NO badge if you get this kit/upgrade installed as an addition to your car. The only time you get a badge (so far) is if you order a brand new 335i in a sedan form with the Performance Edition package. In that case, you will have an additional badge on the trunk (bottom left) of the car that says "BMW Performance Edition". This is what the badge looks like:

Actually there are two stage-1 kits, one is SW only, the other is SW plus the badge and black grills.
